He's referring to the install. Placement needs to be precise for clearance on the trunk arm.

Putting in work for you folks. Your patience is appreciated while i bust my ass!

Planning on installing a level control in the coin slot as well but don't want to go the Ocarbon route -

Anybody have suggestions/vendors for coin slot delete?

Sounds terrific. I am very impressed what a single 10 in a small enclosure is capable of when sufficiently powered. Very impressive results.

Woohoo! Glad you're satisfied with the results! Once your installer tweaks the positioning you'll be good to go! Thanks for providing some firsthand feedback

I went with the 8 on the right side and couldn't be more happy. Jl8W3, amazing what that speaker can do. I am a 50 year older white guy, it is perfect. Kick drum sounds very good. I need to play with crossover a little, but overall very nice.

Hey Bludool (or anyone else who has the 8" box), how are you securing the box to the car? I imagine it'll need to be fixed firmly in place so possibly bolted to something, existing metal or a bracket added. Any details and pics you can share would be great. Thank you.

Yeah, we opted to screw through the bottom of the box into the trunk floor to secure the box. This pulled it off just a bit so that the trunk arm rubs when it closes.

Does the enclosure just rest on the metal bracket, or are there fasteners involved? I just got my 8" right-side box installed yesterday but for now it is sitting in there loosely with something in the trunk trying to hold it in place. I'm trying to avoid drilling any more holes in the fiberglass if possible.

Gotcha. I've used this 3M plastic velcro stuff with good success too (same stuff they supply with EZ Pass transponders):

Is your metal bracket welded to the frame or screwed/bolted? Any details on that would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the added info. Curious to see what the ideal solution is considering it should be held firmly in place while allowing us to get to the fuses. Interesting puzzle.

Here is what I came up with tonight. I haven't driven the car yet so I don't know how well it will work to keep the enclosure in place, but it's worth a try. I used some 2" wide "industrial strength" black Velcro. I used the loop strip (the soft part) because it resembles black carpeting, and applied the adhesive side bridging the face of the enclosure to the trunk liner. It feels fairly secure but we shall see how it holds up against the g-forces and bumps.

I also noticed that the bottom of the main part of the enclosure, where the speaker resides, seems to sit on top of the fuse panel. I think I will fab up a piece of angle like Blackfunk did to take the weight of the box. I'll probably add some velcro to the top of the bracket and the mating surface of the enclosure for extra holding strength.

    Aesthetically not too bad IMO:

I have the same request please. I now have my box (yeah!) and am curious how the guys with the left hand box secured their box into the cubby. Thanks.

Sadly my car was hit a couple weeks back and will be almost 3 weeks in the shop before I get her back and then I will finally get to return to my Audio guy for a box adjustment. I will post up what we end up doing to secure the box down and clear the trunk arm.

Glad everyone's boxes are arriving how they were sent. It's hard to keep up with who's doing their own installs and who is having a shop do it. If you guys need me to fab up a bracket like I did for the earlier boxes, it's no big deal. I will not have the aesthetics I worked so hard to create obscured so @steveyem I'm traveling for work now, so remind me and I'll get you a proper bracket.

The right box is built to sit about a half inch above the fuse box so it should not be resting on it.

Almost done with this run. It's been a long journey guys. That's for riding with me

Thanks Mr. S, I will look forward to hearing back from you and receiving the bracket. Hopefully I didn't offend you with my interim solution, but I could not come up with anything better using the materials I had on-hand. After my drive to work this morning the enclosure appears to have stayed in place, but I can't guarantee it isn't making contact with the top of the fuse panel when I go over bumps.

Not offended at all! I actually meant to throw an "lol" in their but in my happy hour haze forgot so my apologies if it came off too stern. I want everyone to enjoy their box with the full effect of it's intended design; to provide an OEM-looking solution to our paper-coned stock subs :-)

    cheers!

Haha no worries. I know what you mean - you put a lot of time and care into these enclosures and want them to be used to their full potential. I can appreciate that! I will wait to hear from you regarding the bracket.

One more question for those of you who have installed these already (or for Mr. S)... to attach the wires to the speaker in the back, did you just drill a small hole and run them through? Then seal it with something? I admit I'd not considered the wiring aspect until I started gathering all of my materials for the installation work. I think this is the only way to do it, but before I drill a hole in this masterpiece I thought I'd ask! Cheers.

I think this is the only way to do it, but before I drill a hole in this masterpiece I thought I'd ask! Cheers.
Yup, drill a hole and just fill the inside with a strong silicone

I drilled two small holes in the back, one for each wire. I started with undersized holes and gauged them out until I was able to pull a wire through with a tight fit.

Forgive me I didn't go through all the thread, but if this will work with the B&O stereo I am for sure interested. I was going to resort to the JL truck wedge in the back, but this would look so much better. Want to replace the sub, and amp.

It currently floats about 1/2" off the trunk floor due to some wiring that sits at the edge/opening of the compartment I didn't want to risk getting pinched. You could use a base board of sorts to cover that half-inch and secure where the amp racks were originally secured. They sit pretty flat so that should do it as something to mount into/onto. Some high strength velcro should suffice.

There's some great info you're missing but this thread did end up a bit lengthy i guess... Yes it works with B&O (what most who wanted a box have). I'm finishing this run and thinking if I'll do another or not. if you look at the start date of the thread you'll see this has gone on for quite some time.
