    Some Q's about HID fogs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hello, I purchased a 2005.5 arctic white a4 2.0t with 6 speed and every option but sport and navi. Im wondering if there is a write up on how to put xenons into the foglight housings. Do i use my current bulbs for the foglights and put new ones in the current headlight position. Will i need to upgrade to a more powerfull Ballasts or do i need seperate ballasts for the fogs? Does anyone else care to do this. Im overseas right now but when i return to ohio in 2 weeks i will be doing the VAG code to take those ugly orange turn signals off while my headlights are on. Will there be a Eurocode headlight option to get rid of these hideous corners or not? Thanks in advance

No writeup yet. You will need an additional two ballasts. There is a guy that put xenons in his fogs in his B6 A4 here in Toronto. Looks nice, but the thing is once you turn your fogs on recommended not to turn them off and on as it doesn't help with the ballast's life. There are also laws regarding to how much total light is allowed (measured by total wattages).

As for 'eurocode' headlights, there's no such thing anymore from Audi as they use the same headlight unit for all cars globally and haven't read of anybody taking out the yellow piece yet.

You should PM OverboostPsi or Protocold for more info as they seem to be the most knowledgable regarding lights, fogs, etc. that I'm aware of.

I had HID fogs in my B5 for a long time. They put out a TON of light.

Not my car, but it has been done.

To access the fogs and the headlights you have to take the entire front bumper off. Here's a write-up on how to do it, it also includes the message from the guy who took out the amber pieces of the headlight in the pic above.

DoThisMyWay, the write up on the VAg changes are on AW. I saw you can make it so the turning signals only flash when turning, the seat belt chime can be removed and something about taking off the auto door lock feature. I do not wish to break the seal on the headlights so doesnt look like i will be taking out the amber piece but that write up was great for the fogs ill be sure to do it when i get home.
