    B8.5 crappy subwoofer

    Hey guys,

I have a 2015 A4 S-line that comes with a horrible subwoofer. I went to the local stereo shop and they said there aren't any open air subs that will fit the factory mounted location. I don't want to have an enclosure in my trunk so I'm hoping someone here knows of a sub that can replace the oem one without a ton of modification.

    Thanks in advance,

    Graham

Here's a thread that is worth reading. It tends to ramble but there is an indication that a specific Pioneer sub works great as a free air option for the rear deck. Not a perfect fit, as uses 6 screw holes vs 4 for stock sub. Also, it appears to require a small amount of surface area height be added to the rear deck, in this case a couple layers of dynamat and the foam trim ring. But it sounds as if the Pioneer sub is a good answer. I have the same sub sitting in my garage, and hope to get it installed over the holiday.
