As posted on AR. Not mine but too funny not to share.

    ----

Looks like corsa woke up finally. Here's Dan Jenkins' interpretation of that

APR - "HEEEEEEY corsa, how's it going? Long time no speak? How was your summer? Yeah? Aaaaaanyway, turns out that cheap shit we've been selling for $3100...well some f^cker posted pics of what it looks like inside, and well...if you don't change the definition of RSC RFQ (REAL FUCKING QUICK) we are both fucked. So, I know we haven't paid you since March 2013, but you may want to whip up a new marketing page describing RSC as 'anyfuckingthing '

    That's EPIC.

@mr shickadance, I've donated. Not sure what to start and will likely throw more in if it's necessary. I would also start a new thread for this too, like you said, spread it all around.

You could always ship the exhaust to the donor who throws in the most? Just need it TIG welded back together. Would be a chance for someone to pick up an exhaust on the cheap...

In for this too. Just so happens I have the necessary resources to put it back together, provided it's not mangled while investigating the internals.

lol quick, someone take all the APR threads and sell them to a tv station as a script for some new day time television. Though I own no APR parts, all I've seen has been APR drama since I bought my S4. So sad they've become this.

If the mods want to move it to the b8 section they absolutely can.

I would consider that, it really would come down to the shipping costs and if the member wanted it or not I think. I am more than happy to oblige but I don't think it would be fair to myself to pick up the shipping cost for sending out the exhaust so I am certainly open to that idea tho.

a member has PM'd me regarding an exhaust purchase as well. I would not mean to start a price bidding war against you two, but I think it would absolutely come down to the cheapest price (including shipping)

Also in fairness to the community, I would want to be posting the PM's sent to me regarding this as well so the community knows

Probably obvious, but when you go to buy this crowd-sourced exhaust system, make sure you don't mention that you have anything to do with this thread. You never know if there is a vendor with strong allegiance to APR who would elect to have one drop-shipped to you direct from APR instead of one from their own inventory, and then the experiment is bunk.

Yeah, I think that would surely start a bidding war. I wouldn't want to cause any hard feelings towards anyone for that either. Maybe give the highest donation first crack at buying it (for your time spent)? There are quite a few stipulations that would stem. Afterall, we are all going after the results. Cheers.

What do you hope to accomplish? You will get an exhaust, cut it open, see the same thing you have seen in this thread and then what? APR's stance won't change. They have said they believe RSC technology is anything they want it to be. You already know the material it's made of etc.

Do what you have to do, and I like the charity aspect, but I don't get the end game, other than one person getting a deal on an exhaust :)

oh i am sorry I don't think I was clear. The exhaust purchase would be made towards obtaining the apr exhaust to be cut. I believe Ink was asking about donating his exhaust, and I have another member who wants to sell me their APR exhaust to be used. In that situation I think it would be a price war between the two members towards who could sell it to me for the cheapest.

As I think about it more, I am more reluctant to offer the exhaust to the highest paying member for a few reasons.

    1) If I put that stipulation that the person who donates the most keeps the exhaust than I feel like we would absolutely HAVE to obtain a new exhaust. A used exhaust, cut open and welded back together would someone even want that?

    2) as a realist, what if we do not raise enough capital towards getting an exhaust then the person who donated the most gets nothing? I mean I would be ok with that logic personally, but maybe that member could feel burned I don't know.

Again, I am absolutely open to these ideas, but I would like to make sure I am doing everything I can to benefit the community and cause as little backlash as possible.

I would aim to accomplish the following:

    - provide as transparent, unbiased and honest execution of what is really in this APR exhaust.
    - either back up crews story or not, i mean we have seen pictures and everything but I think maybe a video could help solidify it, we simply don't know if the fiberglass was put in there or if the chambers were truly empty and so on.

if it happens, great, if not, st judes gets a decent donation for the holidays.

Cutting open an exhaust isn't going to do anything. It's going to look like what we already saw. APR isn't denying what it looks like.

^This. APR has never mentioned that its not supposed to look like the pictures. And if the pictures are accurate, then those are APR employees cutting it open and so we already know whats on the inside.

No need to give them another sale, we already know what the exhaust looks like inside.

Everyone's been harping on "where's the RSC, marketing BS, etc...", but I don't think anyone has actually asked APR: "is this what you expect the internals of the muffler to look like?".

That could be the damning question.

    Yeah.

IMO It doesn't matter what APR says at this point. They had specific diagrams and cutout images of this supposed RSC technology on their product pages, and the actual exhaust systems look nothing like that. Even if APR was technically correct and they did happen to contain some form of RSC, it's still false advertising.

400+ posts from customers who feel ripped off should be enough evidence of that.

Another minor point I don't think has been mentioned is now the value of these exhausts are going to take a hit on the used market. People can usually sell used B8 S4 after market exhausts for at least 60% of their original price. Kind of a stickler point, but GM got hit with this problem when they had all safety recalls.

I must have missed something. Why was an APR employee taking photos of the internals of their muffler and distributing it in the first place? Was it a disgruntled employee that wanted to send a final F-you to APR before quitting? Or an APR employee that had an attack of conscience and wanted the consumer to know the real story? Sorry if I'm being dense here, I just don't understand why this all came about.

No need to give them another sale, we already know what the exhaust looks like inside.
There were posts that Arin made that certainly inferred what the inside looked like in regards to the Golf R exhausts.

Screen grabs of those posts are somewhere in this thread.

APR is looking to develop their own exhaust since they have cut ties with their sub-tier supplier Corsa. So essentially they were cutting it open so they could copy Corsa's design and make more exhausts.

OK thanks for the explanation. So that makes sense as to why the pictures were taken. Why they were distributed to anyone outside of APR is the weird part to me. Seems like APR would want to keep this way on the hush to avoid the shitstorm that is currently raining down on them.

Corsa cut ties with APR because they weren't getting paid. Corsa was distributing pamphlets at SEMA for their own upcoming line of VW/Audi exhausts.

Because an unknown employee felt morally obligated and thought people should know if the poor ethical decisions made by APR and their false advertising

"Sub-tier" just according to APR right? Corsa looks to be a good manufacturer, one of the few still doing most production in the US. I'm guessing APR just couldn't stomach the cost anymore, compared to overseas alternatives.

We've seen this story before. Anyone remember: "B&B makes the best systems!!".........."Wait, we were wrong. B&B sucks" (paraphrasing)?

I meant it saying they contract the work to them. Not sub-standard. APR being the first tier, Corsa being the second tier....

Please refer to the earlier post in this thread.

And yes, there are people within APR who are displeased with the deception. Unfortunately, they are not the ones that decide what Arin gets to post online.
