Still waiting for you to reply/post the info you promised in your Revo thread from back in...September? August? Or did I miss it? You went AWOL shortly after getting the tune and left everyone hanging. :( If you did post the info I'd like to look at it. Let me know if you made a new thread for it please.

RSC Claim update. A week later I got a reply stating without the original invoice they will not process the claim.

    1) Shame on me for not keeping this
    2) Not sure what this proves given its a lifetime warrantee. Maybe to check I am the original purchaser? But given they have processed a claim previously they should have records to that effect.

Anyway, I removed the system from my car yesterday as it has become un-drivable with the drones and rattles. Will keep pushing, any advice on how to break through the roadblocks appreciated.

A lot of companies do this. They usually only honor warranty for original purchasers.

Ask about the previous claims and see if thats sufficient. And if not, ask why it isnt

Did you buy online? If you did, you should have some form of email confirmation. If you bought it form a local shop, see if they have old receipts on file. Most reasonable businesses will keep transaction related materials for a few years due to audit reasons.

It's always a good idea to keep original invoices. Most manufacturers only offer WARRANTY coverage to the original purchaser. The windows in my house have a lifetime warranty but it only applies to the original purchaser.

Do you maybe have an email invoice that you could use?

Did you buy it from a vendor? Contact them and see if they have a copy of the invoice.

Contact your credit card company and find the transaction on your bill, that will count as an invoice.

i dont think credit card transaction counts as a bill. i asked a company ( monster, inc ) about that and they said they dont accept it because transaction on the statement means nothing, you could of returned it or cancelled it after. luckily i was able to find my original receipt to be able to get my headphones warrantied

I've had luck several times with the credit card showing the purchase. If anything it gives you the exact date the transaction went through and which vendor it was, then you can call that vendor and have them search their records on that day for the transaction...

Email Chris Teague or Michael Miller. Chris handles a lot of the RMA's and Michael is the Production Manager. This is assuming they are both still employed there. Either way, they could find your original invoice. [email protected] or [email protected] Don't even bother with Arin on this one....we all know that he doesn't care.

Tom has contacted me through email, and I have responded. For the sake of transparency, I am currently on vacation and warranty repairs are not my area of responsibility, so I've helped ensure Tom is communicating with the appropriate people.

    Thank you!

that's a load of donkey dick from monster.

credit card statements are wonderful at capturing the purchase date and time. Credit card statements are usually brought into the court room to help prove purchase dates etc when criminals are dumb enough to commit a crime and then pay for something using a credit card.

also helpful in divorce when people try and tank an ex SO's credit.

monster was being difficult with you, but more importantly....why were you ever using a monster product? there is not a single monster product made right now that another maker does not make both cheaper, AND better.

Going off topic here, but wouldn't an invoice also mean nothing in that case because you could have returned it afterwards as well? Its not like they ask you to give up your invoice if you return something. Sure an order number on the invoice will possibly have subsequent return history added to it by them later on, but that same order number has an original purchase/payment date, which can be correlated with your credit card statement and should be able to point them to your order number the same way your original invoice would.

Wow... I loved this company, thought they always did things the right way in testing and testing and testing things till they were right. I wonder what happened, ie who got greedy, because honestly a company with as much built up rep as them could only be ruined by pure unadulterated greed. :( This makes me sad.

Does any of this recent APR bashing pertain to this vintage of tune? Should I be worried for any reason or seeking a tune from another company instead?

Thanks in advance for not making me read 20 pages of this post (I do realize it's primarily about their exhaust).

I was also out in Denver when I went stage 2 and didn't notice huge gains but I had a boost gauge installed to keep an eye on psi. I was only making about 12-14psi WOT stage 2. Then I drove back to Alabama switched to 93oct and map and the psi went up to 15-16psi WOT pretty big difference. My car crushes stock s4s and pulls away instantly! So I believe it does what they say it does. For approx. $2,000-2,500 you can bump these cars up about 5-7PSI with little labor and very quickly! I don't think there is any reason to worry APR may have some stuff going on behind the scenes but they definitely care about their product! I have had no issues with any of my APR products other then I didn't put them on sooner!
I just wish for us DSG folks they would hurry up and get a software upgrade for better shift points and help smooth things out a touch I would pay good money for that!

I am about to purchase the Stage 2 pulley upgrade and have an original Stage 1 ECU upgrade. I want to install the pulley myself, and speaking with APR yesterday they stated I could buy the pulley from them but would need to go through my local APR dealer to have the ECU flashed to suppport the pulley as they don;t accept ECU's any more. However I learned today from speaking to the local APR dealer (Tampa) that in order to perform the flash I'm required to purchase the pulley from them and have them install it as well. ??? Talk about strong-arming!!!! Anyone else have a similar experience recently?? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!!

You can install the pulley yourself (that you must purchase from APR) and have them flash the stg 2 file at the cost of labor. They are full of it otherwise.

If you're set on going APR find a new dealer. You can buy the pulley direct and APR will give you an authorization code for the flash. Sounds like the dealer you spoke with is either ignorant or not so honest. I'd look into your local GIAC and Revo dealers and go with who has the best reputation. The products are all very similar but the dealer experience can vary greatly.

so if you go with giac you have to buy through awe, i would say both are shitty

you can install the pulley and pay for labor of the flash since the upgrade is included with the pulley, make sure you get the code from apr though with the purchase of their pulley

Thanks all for the advice. I had the ECU flashed as soon as the beta Stage 1 was available (without the 100 octane and valet modes), so it needs to go back for the full upgrade, however all of the turmoil at APR I've been reading about has me a bit concerned - better git er done while I still can!

It's unfortunate because every APR system has a serial # attached to it. Given that it would be your second replacement system, they would already have the information regarding the replacement in their system. It is not surprising to me that APR is finding small ways to deny warranty claims since they're forced to pull them from inventory.

I'm running into a different issue with them not sending motor mounts which I paid for.

APR's been shady for a long ass time. I remember a few years ago when I was a photographer at the 24 hours of Daytona they showed up with 2 R8's. The one R8 crashed within minutes of the start and was finished, the other car got on the podium I believe. I think they ran them at the next two races which were Homestead and then Barber Motorsports Park, but we never saw them again the rest of the year. I then heard that Audi Sport Customer Racing took the cars back because APR had not paid them per the lease contract. Then they pulled their VW's and their S4 from competition and the last I saw the GTi's they were in a junk yard somewhere in southern Alabama.

I would not expect any vendor to replace a complete system more than once for me.
Its only 2 grand and shipping.

My cable vendor is on their 7th cable box! Apple has replaced my iPhone 3x now! What's the difference?

    APR fucking blows.

Get over it, and buy something else.

There is a big difference. You lease your cable box from the provider and the iphone is a similar arrangement in most cases.

Comparing an aftermarket "performance" exhaust system to a cable box and old iphone is absurd.

But your last two statements show that this is a personal issue that you have with APR, you just dont like them so your opinion is biased.

Ok, so my cable box reference was WAY off the mark.

My iPhone reference does not. Buy your phone off contract, and they will still replace it when you have a problem. If you have AppleCare, they will replace it up to 2 years, maybe 3?

Let's go with new siding on a house. Lifetime warranty applies to original homeowner. When there is a problem, it is fixed or replaced.

As far as having a biased opinion, I love the apr tune, one of the best on the market. I also like their exhaust, no matter what's in it.

The problem that I have is how they marketed their exhaust, and how they are not helping with the warranty process.

No there isn't. If you have a warranty on a product you purchased and something goes wrong, it should be replaced, period. Doesn't matter how many times it needs to get replaced, the fact that it's under warranty and needs to be replaced warrants replacement.

If I had an exhaust and it blew apart, I'd want a free replacement. If that one, or the next ten, blew apart, I'd expect free replacements for all of them, or have the company refund my money in full.
