Advice for buying B6 parts on line.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have bought some B6 parts on line from a well known supplier of custom B6 parts. the exact supplier will not be disclosed as it does not matter, only the facts matter.

I paid via PP for the parts almost 45 days ago and they have not even shipped yet.

The seller has told me about delays, but never on their own accord....only when I send a email to query status do I ever get any updates.

This is where I need the advice....

I am positive that the seller will ship me the parts once they sort out their supply issues (no mention of said issues when ordering), however, I would also like to protect myself.

PP only gives me 45 days to file a dispute or I am screwed no matter what. PP offers a lot of buyer protection and I do not want to miss out on this.

    so my dilemma...

Do I file a dispute with paypal "just in case" ? I do not want to sour my relationship with the seller, but I have to look out for myself.

the dispute would not ask for any $$ back at this time...just being filed as nothing has been shipped inside the 45 days allowed for a PP dispute. This allows follow up in the future.

Brainstorming here, I guess I could get a PP refund until such time as my items are actually in stock and then pay for them then. Bottom line, I have been without $400 bucks I could invest or make interest on for 45 days and this has tangible financial value.

    Just brainstorming...

I have no doubt that the supplier in question will read this, no need to respond if you do not want to...your identity is safe with me...you have my email for discussions.

thanks for all help, I need the advice.

Get a refund and wait to purchase again when the item is back in stock.

    >> Is unnecessary, not sure what yield you were contemplating from $400 but it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Now as far as concern over the seller's reputation or whatever, this is bringing it to the personal level..
It Is Not .... It's a business transaction. the seller is or should be well aware of the timeline Pay Pal implements concerning payment and shipping of purchased goods.
If you have only 45 days then you need to file so that in case this does escalate to a dispute, there is documented info to be used for recourse.
It's strictly about a transaction between a buyer and a seller. There is no need for any personal interaction.

Keep it business like and keep the timeline short. There shouldn't be a surprise of " We are out of stock " after you have paid for the items. That should have been public knowledge when the buyer orders. Then it's up to you to either choose to wait for the backorder or shop elsewhere.

    Good Luck

also depends on what the part in question is i think.

if its something theyre custom fabbing for you then i guess i can understand but if its somekind of replacement then refund and buy elsewhere.

10-20% custom fab... the rest in in stock off the shelf.

I have filed a PP dispute, my hope is I never have to follow up on it and can close it ASAP.

OK.. so if it's a partially custom order, did the seller inform you that there likely would be delays prior to purchase ??

No mention of it on the site that I see, however, when informed that they send out for one of the particular parts after purchase....this made sense and one could have taken this as implied not stated. implied as no one can expect them to stock a million variations of the same part just in case I order the particular variation.

The seller has apologized for the delays caused by the supplier of the custom part (supplier to them).

We have to deal with delays at times on our orders for unexpected issues like manufacturer delays (we are not the seller here) and what we generally do is if it is going to be longer than expected we just refund the customer and let them know since there is no hard ETA we prefer to not hold the money and just ask them to reorder. This way no customer has to float their money.

this is what ive experienced with most places as well

also if its a multiple item order they should ship out everthing else except the things that arent available and just refund you for the items that arent available.

Got a response form the owner. Evidently he was less than pleased with the employee handling my file.

    Looks like items have shipped.
