    iPhone/iPod connection via glovebox

Hello everyone. I just picked up an 08 avant with the ipod dock in the glovebox. the car the symphony II head unit with SAT radio. Is there a specific adapter that utilizes the OEM glovebox iPhone/iPod dock? I'd like to use a longer cable so that the device does not need to stay in the glovebox.

I have done research/searching around the forums however I have not found a concrete solution. I also understand that it is tricky to keep SAT radio with the added apple adapters.

Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you!

With an 08, i believe you actually have the Symphony 2+ (without the cassette player). If thats the case, look at this link

As far as I know, there isn't a simple cable extension. However you could easily just run a long dock connector extension from the glovebox to the armrest or wherever you want it to be. Removing the glovebox to access that stuff is relatively simple.

The OEM iPod dock is garbage though. Mine refuses to work and when it does it outputs only one channel at roughly 1/4 volume and all staticy.

Yes I do have the Symphony II+ (no cassette) along with the OEM glovebox connection. My initial thought was to find a 3ft long 30pin to 16 pin adapter to run to my center console, however the longest adapter is less than a foot.

I've played my old ipod through the dock and it sounds great. Luckily I didnt experience any static or volume loss.

Search my posts in this section. I have had a 3ft cable (female to male) extender from Amazon with a voltage adapter to connect my iPhone. I have since connected a Bluetooth adapter to the glovebox connection and use Bluetooth audio. Both setups work well.

I picked up the Tune2Air for $80. I use it with my iPhone. Great purchase, it's bluetooth and stream from your phone so you don't even have to take it out of your pocket.

This is excellent. it's exactly what I've been looking for.

I have an iPhone 5s with the latest OS update. Has anyone experienced any issues with streaming? Also, does it interfere with bluetooth calls?

I have been using a long cable to get out of the glovebox then an adapter to connect the old 30pin to my iphone 5s. The entire setup was like 40 bucks....looking at the tune2air I should have probably just gone that route.

I have it too. It works perfectly, and does not interfere with bluethooth phone.

I have had no issues. I have my iPhone 6 on iOS 8.1 connected to both the Audi BT and the Tune2Air, if I'm playing music it will pause it and come thru normally. Also I love that it pauses the music when you change the input and when you connect it will autoplay.
