Has anyone been fortunate enough to drive a variety of chips in different B7 2.0t's yet? If so, I'd love to hear your impressions. Just because I know people are going to speak up in favor of what they have, try to only answer if you've actually driven more than one type of chip

    What are MTM's numbers?

I'm planning on doing suspension and chip next week, but I really want to wait and see what numbers GIAC is going to come out with, why is it taking so long

APR's numbers appear to have been printed wrong on their site. Their numbers for 93 octane are 231hp and 280tq.

I will do my best over the next two weeks to do both baseline and modifiend dyno and 1/4 mile testing of the MTM chip. I'll keep you all up to date. I will be doing the testing at an independent facility that does not sell MTM. In fact it sells APR. cheers! Mike

The added power will be felt from about 2800rpm until about 6000rpm. It takes until about 3000rpm for the K03 to be fully spooled at 20+psi and it starts to run out of air at about 5500rpm. cheers! Mike

I will be doing a review along with dyno runs on several of the software options come Novemeber when our B7 A4 2.0T arrives. If you can wait that long...

A3 2.0T DSG testing will come much sooner.

The torque numbers the tuners are making on the new 2.0T powerplant are pretty impressive.

It will be nice to see somewhat decent comparisons between the various options available. Although the engine in the A3 and A4 is the same, because of variations in chassis (among other things) the numbers will be different between the two cars. But I'll certainly do my best to get some comparos done ASAP.

The main reason there is a difference between the A3's numbers and the A4's is because of the difference in cooling as well as timing. The A4 uses dual side mount intercoolers, while the A3 motor uses a fmic.

Interesting.... didn't know that. So which would you say is better? Dual side mounts or a fmic?

Actually the difference is negligible. You'll find that many tuning companies are making the exact same numbers on the A3 as the A4. cheers! Mike

I was surprised by the differences in numbers.

    APR for instance...

    A3
    91 Octane: 246hp/282lb-ft - 93 Octane: 252hp/303lb-ft

    B7 A4
    91 Octane: 232hp/273lb-ft - 93 Octane: 241hp/292lb-ft

And aside from the single vs dual intercoolers, don't forget the engines are mounted differently.

I have driven the OCT chip on the B7 A4 and new A3. Both are equiped with milltek high flow cat/downpipe and exhaust. Feels quicker than my car...especially the A3 feels super quick!

Anthony makes a good point about the engine. They will utilize different exhaust and intake due to the orientation. Interstingly they make the same power stock with the same boost so maybe this isnt an issure, maybe it is. Ben made a good point about timing and FMIC versus DSMIC, but I wonder what affect this will really have on a dyno where no air is flowing over the air to air IC. This will be an interesting area to look at as tuners continue to develp their software. It appears some tuners are having different results for each platform and some are having the same. Maybe they can post here about some of the unique difference encountered while tuning them. One thing we cant compare is how they actually drive on the streets since the A3 is lighter and also utilizes only FWD here so the drivetrain loss should be less meaning inherently they put more down to the pavement like those pesky gti cars. cheers! I've actually had some very nice discussions and email convos with both Aaron @ Neuspeed and Ben @ APR about tuning the 2.0T. If only I could get them to go into it here, it'd be some very interesting reading...

And I've been impressed with some of the stats coming back on aftermarket exhausts on the 2.0T cars. Appears it's still the old bottleneck it's always been. Can't wait to see what comes of big turbo and manifold upgrades in the coming years for these cars.
