    2.7t Frankenturbo, pretty sh%t build.

Well, I posted a thread a few weeks ago, wondering why my car was smoking. I was dead set on bad valve seals, as I had replaced the K03s with claimed "borgwarner" K03/K04 Hybrid turbos.

The car was smoking to the point where I was embarrassed to drive it. So, I dropped off a set of 2.8 heads to be cleaned up with new valveseals installed. So I parked the car, and began tearing it down for prep of new heads. To my stupid surprise, I find the DS turbo has copious amounts of shaft play, and bent fins. I'll let the pictures speak

I got 8k out of these.

At this point with the build, I might as well commit, the car is worth nothing in this state, and I genuinely enjoy the B6/2.7 combo. It sucks I got hosed on these turbos, but Live and learn, I had bought an F21 kit from doug for my MK3 last year, with great results. Awesome customer service, and product, I cranked 262whp and 290lbs out of it

As you can tell, I love doing swaps, I do everything myself, Best way to learn. I'm also a powdercoater by trade/hobby. So, anything metal, gets coated.

Some randoms of the car, I know its know a B5. But its in there :P

My goal is 430-450whp, if anyone has any tips/experience with the F21/2.7 combo, chime in. I'll keep updating as I make progress. 2.8 heads should be back next week.

I saw you at Eurokracy. Actually we cruised there in the same column (scrapped crusaders). I was really impressed by your swap. Keep up the great work dude.

P.S gonna give you a call when it comes time to pull my engine. Seems like you know what your doing lol

Yeah man, pm me anytime. The 2.7 is easy to work on, Just not in an engine bay :P

Doesn't look like much, but I got the Crankcase cover, and coolant pipes back on, with new gasket and o-rings

    Invisible shit. But rust free.

I really like what you've done so far. I assume the car is quattro?

Yaay 16v manifold! (Doesn't appear to be the the highly desirable "KR" intake, but yaay nonetheless).

How upsetting would it be if I just opted for the ProjectB5 Borgwarner K04 CHRA and call it a day? haha I want to do the franks, but money and time is not on my side.

What was the cost difference in rebuilding the K04s vs new FTs? Im guessing you used the housing from your old turbos?

Thanks, yeah it stings to the touch. I didn't do one ounce of scrubbing. Worked great.

I got the heads on, they didn't ship my head bolts, so I'm at a stand still, but I got the turbos mounted to the manifolds, and tossed on some other stuff, nothing is bolted down as I'd like to clean up a bit more grease.
