Pictures wanted of laser and radar sensor installed in RS7

Looking for any pics of you where you mounted your laser and or radar detector sensors. wondering if down low on the spoiler is ok ? or anywhere it can be down with out cutting the grill thanks

For laser, I was told you put the sensor (actually a transmitter I think) is the center of a 36 inch circle of coverage (18 inch radius from the sensor). You want to place them so that the 36 inch circle(s) cover the whole area that you are likely to get shot with a laser gun. ie the flat area of the grill/headlights. Down low will probably not protect the top of the grill/bumper, up high will leave a vulnerable area in the center at the bottom.

Below is where I was recommended on my car. If you put a measuring tape on the red dots and hold it at 18 inches and swing it in a circle, there will be two 36 inch circles that will cover all of the flat surface:

its just not feasible without cutting the grill on the rs7 that style grill above is easy for placment

Here are my Blinder diodes in my grill.
The Bel STiR Plus radar sensor is hidden behind the front license plate area of the bumper. (can't be seen in this pic)






Unfortunately, the RS series mesh grills do not work well with laser jammers or radar detectors. This is the primary reason why I only replaced my S6 chrome grill with the black optics version, and not the RS6 version. Believe it or not, but if you put a radar detector sensor behind that plastic mesh it actually harms the sensitivity worse than if you place the sensor behind the solid bumper. The folks at Bel/Escort have tested and proven this.

I am just saying that there has to be some consideration for the mounting locations effectiveness. . If you put them on the bottom and leave the upper part unprotected, the value of having it goes way down

+1, the sensors need to be mounted in the areas/dimensions that are most effective, otherwise it's like using a trojan with a hole in it.

I think I've found how and what I'm going to cut on mine. Does anyone have a tutorial on grill removal ? Also will the radar detector be ok going mounted behind the grill ?

I have read reports that radar detectors do not perform well behind plastic mesh style grills, like the RS6 and RS7. Something about the mesh causes a filtering effect with the radar signals and reduces the detector's effectiveness.

It is better to put the radar sensor behind the bumper, as long as there is no metal blocking the signal.

What you mean behind the bumper ? The grill goes almost down to the bottom ?

You might need to find a spot off-center, behind the bumper cover. As crazy as it sounds, the radar signal can have an easier time penetrating the bumper cover than mesh grills. (As long as the bumper is not metal)

Take a look at the posts from a forum moderator at Escort Radar. He clearly says that mounting behind a solid, non-metallic bumper is generally better than a varying, semi-porous surface like a mesh grill.
