Help! - I ran over Industrial grade glue and cannot get the last bit off back fender

What a mess - construction in the area - left residue on back left lower panel behind the wheel. I tried to heat it with a hair dryer to soften (bad idea - took a bit of paint off as well) I used Mother's compound putty and got 95% off. 1 last hard bit remaining about 1 inch long.

Have tried Goo Gone, Simple Green the compound but cannot get the last bit - hate to just throw touch up paint over it (glue dried on beige on my Monsoon Gray)

The wheel sprayed it in the wheel well but thank good for the "rats hair" insulation in the wheel well - glue peeled right off.

    Other suggestions?

    Help!

Are you working by hand or with DA polisher? If the former, use a DA polisher with something like Sonax 5/4 or Menzerna FG400 on a microfiber pad. If the latter, you may be to the point of needing to do some wet sanding.
