Not familiar with replacement of module, just adding wire and changing some values in hidden menu?

Ok, I actually had these installed a few days ago with the help of a friend who happens to be a VW master tech. We followed hk5ykw's wiring and coding guide. Lights are all working perfectly but we're now getting error codes for the tail lights, blinkers, reverse and fog lights..... it seems like there may have been some missing channel adaptations in the OP's guide. Has anyone else here done this how-to and run into similar problems? Here's a vid of the lights working below. Any help from those who have tackled this on their own would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Man, I hope you can figure out what the issue is with the coding. I was going to start this project and thought the details were all worked out by now.

Problem solved. The OP forgot to mention an important code missing from the code adaptations listed. If you input 0 to channel 181 into control unit 46, it tells the system that the lighting is LED and no longer bulb. Made the change today, no codes. Big thanks to Gunnark100 and rlarsen for the assist. Hopefully someone else will find this helpful!

Nice job - all sorted, small input for future 181=0 (no bulbcheck = no errors in dis and in module 46). Factory setting for 181 regardless which lights(led,bulb,fl led) should be 65535!

Just testing an install. I used an aftermarket wiring harness to allow for easier wiring. With the coding mentioned previously I only get the inner strip left/right and fog lights working. Some of my old channel values are different to the ones mentioned. These are channel 197/198/207/208/209/210. Not sure if that makes a difference. This install was facelift LED to pre-facelift Halogen on Audi B8 Avant. Any thoughts on how to get this sorted?

^ You got to have the wiring sorted the exact same way with those splices between the two segments (inner and outer) which I assume is why you only get the inner lamps working?

I thought the BCM requires the coding for Ohm/Resistance and or power requirements? Regardless, I picked up my kit from [email protected] and didn't have a problem, except the friggen junction blocks in the hatch area and the ones in the right rear.

The tool I picked up was too big to release the pins (VAS 1978/18).

For coding I would try the following values which is right out of the instructions I received:

Channel 46: enter 16017 (Security Access Code)
Channel 181: Enter 0
Channel 195: 51201
Channel 196: 51233
Channel 197: 5
Channel 198: 37
Channel 200: 9
Channel 201: 41
Channel 203: 12
Channel 204: 44
Channel 205: 13
Channel 206: 45
Channel 207: 5
Channel 208: 37

I have double checked the values, but don't guarantee anything since I don't know if you have a Kufatec harness or whatever.

I had luck building my own harness from the parts list by the OP at the beginning of this thread. The coding he listed for the DIY works. I can't speak for the kufatec or aftermarket harness though.... I'm not sure if they are configured the same way as the wiring mentioned here.

You said your oem adaption values are different then OP had, so Usa or Uk Luton?

All sorted. The wiring on the aftermarket adapter was all messed up, so rather than cut loads of wires I released the terminal connectors to place them in the following setup and coding. This might be of use to some guys as it expands on some of the other guides:

I've shown the old wire colours and how they connect to the new lights, plus the two extra wires per side to connect for the brakes and the red strip. The coding was pretty much as per this guide, just a slight variation on the coding for the fog lights/indicators. This is for a UK spec Audi A4 B8 avant (2008) from Halogen to Facelift LED.

One thing though. I'm getting a bulb out warning for the indicators. Its the internal double speed indicator signal. I've changed to code on channel 181 to 0, so not sure what else to adjust. The indicators are working normally.

Read the error and then clear it. I bet it comes back but perhaps we can compare the settings?

Are the taillights OEM or Dectane?

All sorted. I had 6 channels feeding the signals, so adjusted the code to only have 4 and updated the channel values in my previous post to reflect this. All works fine now. Thanks for all your help.

So I'm going to pull the trigger on a set here in the next month or two. Most have built their own harness but I wanted to research what was available from kufatec. Anyone tried this kit? $212 is rather pricey; looks like I can stay under $50 if I build my own.

build your own harness. The Kufatec harness I had tried did not have the correct connectors on either end to work with my US stock tails and Euro LEDs even though I ordered the harness listed specifically for that combination. You won't need the "dongle" if you have or know someone with VAG-COM

Hi! I have some issue with my lights. Bought the kufatec adapter without the coding box. Tried to change my codes as described in this thread. Not working. I have changed from led to led. EU car.
My old values is:

when i purchased my car it came with this mod from the former owner.

now i have an issue to troubleshoot.... on my Avant the Right Outer LEDs arent illuminating. this includes DRL/Running light feature as well as Turn Signal; however, the Reverse light IS working.

I swapped the Left and Right housings to confirm that the Housing is not at fault, so it must be in my wiring somewhere.

Where should I look?
I tried poking around with my test meter but could not read any voltage on either the Left or Right sides.... I wonder if this is because its a CAN / LED system?

I specifically found the one extra wire lead that runs from Module-46 to my Right Outer. I checked for Voltage there (on both the right and left sides, actually, using a paper clip to make contact inside the connector) and got nothin'.

Stumped! (help?)

@a4 Centaur i was able to confirm that the housing is OK (i plugged it into the Left side and it worked!) so i think it's somewhere in the wiring that's gone bad, i'm just having a hard time finding voltage with my test meter. what voltage should Module 46 be sending to the LEDs, 5v ?

Just finished up this mod and I'm loving the updated look!

I've made all the code changes as noted in the original post as well as the change to input 0 for channel 181 but I'm still getting a hyper flash in my cluster. The exterior lights aren't hyper flashing at all... just the interior arrows. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I don't have any codes showing up for any lights being out.

One clarification I'd like to make (and maybe it's somewhat intuitive): the square connectors near controller 46-Central Conv. where you're splicing into the grey wires (black at top, beige on bottom)... Beige is passenger side. Black is driver side.

I was finally able to get these popped into the car, I wish I could say I did it myself but the folks over at RedRiverMotorwerkz were willing to tackle it! My favorite update so far. Here are some pictures. It looks like a brand new car. I also found this video comparing the two for those of you on the fence. comparison
