    Caliper plate

Anyone know of a decent source for a set of the S5 caliper plates? I was all set to clean mine up, one side came off great, the other side not so much. Cracked around the boss as soon as I moved it. Needless to say the boss stuck in the caliper and had to be drilled out...

I found the ECS kit but at $66 for one, I kinda resent shelling out $130 for pair of flat of aluminum pieces with 'S5' written on it. I know, I know 'pay to play' with these higher end cars etc, but this just seems overpriced. I found them for $50 each at genuineaudiparts.com which is better, but still...

    Search by OEM part #8T0698221.

You can find them cheaper elsewhere online. For example, Jim Ellis Audi Parts has them for $55.

what about the caliper plate that is showing up on the RS7 that looks like the identical caliper to the RS5. Would love to have a set of those. Asked the C7 forum and no response.

ECS Tuning lists the RS7 caliper plate as #8K0698221A.

It comes off pretty easy - i just slid a slim plastic trim puller behind it. I imagine a screwdriver or pick would do the same. Its just held in with some round spring clips.

Here is a guy that sells the decal that fits right over. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-S5-Brak..._qi=RTM2067267

$20 bucks + some spray paint to repaint the plate. Or just put the decal right over the non painted plate

Uggg. Talked to the seller and they are not high heat decals. Anyone have a source for the S5 decal in high temp version?

When you make them, i would post a seperate thread and also notify people on this thread (as i am subscribed)

Its not "if" you carliper plate will fade, it is "when"

Lots of S5 users on the board. So sanding the plate down, repainting it and using a decal is an option I would think many would be interested in.

The trick is that there are 3 colors. Red, white, and a black outline.

I would think this would be useful for other models in the other forums as well.

The other thing I noticed which bugs me (might not bug everyone) is that the font used on the ebay/amazon offerings and others I've seen is not the same as the factory logo. If someone gets closer with a decent legit high temp vinyl I might be interested also.

Right now they are sitting idle on my bench. Aluminum Tig filled the hole, scuffed and shot with high temp paint.

i looked through some of the forums and they have bene saying apply some clear coat on the vinyl and it should be fine. Im not sure how that work. I could cut it for you on Vinyl but nto sure how to add a high heat resisting layer.

Talked with my vinyl guy I use for our shop projects and he said while he's never really heard of a dedicated 'high temp' vinyl, he has used products that can take a ton of heat. Not sure how it will work on a printed type logo vs just straight edge cut.

I'll keep you all posted how it goes...

If you Google the part numbers, you can find these for less than the ECS price. Lots of places in the 40ish dollar range for each one.

    http://www.samswopevwparts.com/oempa...8T0698221.html

After buying the decal, paint, sand papers, clear coat, and all the time, not sure if the DIY is worth it.

I don't know, I am undecided. Maybe zchlvn will come through

    True. Found those also.

For me though, its working out as worth it although it might not for others.

Paint was leftover, I'm fortunate to work with badass welders and we have an in house paint shop if I need to sneak anything in to be cleared and this is a 'nothing' project for my vinyl guy, so my total at the end of it will probably be $0. I'm not really in a rush either, so if it saves me $100, that's cool! More to go in the wheel fund/detail budget

I hear ya. There is a lot of satisfaction doing it yourself. What do you think of red plate and having the decal above with black square, red lettering and white outline? Hope Zchlvn can make the decals. I live super close by

im totally down to ship you guys normal decals. they can withstand high temperatures. as long as it is on the surface of something. Another vs print vinyl is that the ink will come off. You are want these decals message me and ill send you 2 decals free and you tell me how they work. yeah?

Quick update bump - got my vinyl letters on today! I'll probably have the paint shop here do a clearcoat layer just to be safe but I'm pretty pleased with how it came out so far.
Only had the damaged one to test the vinyl on so I'll post more pics with them on the car when I get them on there.

Yes, really wish someone would make these available to us with the correct font from the file posted above.

So I guess you have to stick one color on, then layer the other, then layer another decal over that for the 3 colors?

Does the final decal look like a bunch of decals stacked on one another or does it look pretty flat?
