    Hello anyone reading this...

Just got my first Audi, a 2013 S5 with a manual transmission.

Definitely need to keep the warranty intact so performance mods will have to be tame or just wait. I am looking to do some aesthetic stuff and maybe a few more things that can't really be "seen" but make a difference (alu kreuz, tranny mount insert).

Would love to get feedback and hear what cheap, substantial, or great mods that everyone has done. Also haven't gotten access to Vag-Com yet but that is definitely on my list of things, any recommendations on changes to make there?

Thanks for reading if you've made it this far; I've been reading these forums for a long time, just recently joined and now can finally make my own contribution (or at least try to).

Talk to you all down below.

Here are a few pics of her as I got her. They are just taken with my phone. I will try to post more with every bit that I change (starting with fixing the ding on the passenger side front bumper).

Thanks! Sprung most of my disposable $$ just to pick her up so have to take it slow at first! Already installed LED plate and LED interior should be here tomorrow. Hopefully tint and installed radar in the next couple of weeks.

    Came with LED Plate lights!

Where are you from? I noticed a white S5 in my area just recently. PM me and I can shoot you some info on our Audi Cars and Coffee group in the Chicagoland area. There's a couple S5's/RS5s in our group, all modified. Also, we have guys who can get you hooked up for VAGCOM mods.

    Welcome Spencer!

Ecodes and a tint would be nice. Some coilovers or springs to lower and spacers could help as well. Car looks good right now though.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to get a tint done soon. Is there a difference in types of spacers you can get (other than size)? Are they cheap? Do you have a recommendation for OEM 19" tri-spokes? I really know nothing in that department haha.

springs, spacers, light tint, led interior/exterior would be my must haves to start off ( replace springs with coils if u got the money )
then, if ur ready to splurge more: exhaust, wheels, rs5 grille ( i prefer the rs5 grille but if ur fine with the stock grille, then scratch this off )
if ur in the ultimate yolo mood: Ecodes

Cheap is certainly a relative issue. :D This is an area you definitely want to go for quality. There is a difference and if you get dubious quality stuff, you could run into trouble with wheel wobble, balance issues, etc. Check out this page on the H&R site. http://www.trakplus.com/ Many good manufacturers out there. A lot of people on here run ECS or H&R among others.

Umbra in Schaumburg for tints. Talk to Nino, he'll take care of you.

Spacers aren't expensive at all. Run H&R's, you cannot go wrong with their products. Poke those stock peelers out, drop the car, and you're golden.

So today I did my first "mod" I guess. Installed all the interior LED light replacements.

SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE. I encourage everyone to do this, it was cheap, easy, and a great visual change.
I got mine here, and it came with a few extra bulbs which was great! http://www.uspmotorsports.com/RFB-Au...r-LED-Kit.html

Here are a few pics showing the difference these make. Also, VERY IMPORTANT, the LEDs help out if for no other reason than they stay very cool even after being on for long periods. When I went to change the puddle lights, the door had been open for five minutes and the bulbed could have burned my hand for another five after removing it. The LEDs keep the housings cool to the touch even after a while.

    rear dome

    installed front

funny, I made a flickr account just for this....

    Thanks for reading as always!

if your dropping, i suggest 20/25 spacers. if no drop, 10/15.

LED interior is always my FIRST mod for any car. cheap, and makes a worlds difference.

This suggestion is pretty much spot on. If it makes you feel better... MOPS suggested my setup!!!!! Take a look at pictures of different S5's on this site to see which setup looks good to you. I didn't change sizes when I dropped my car. Always have had 15mm in the front and 20mm in the rear. H&R is the brand I bought. I have zero issues with rubbing.

i read your comment then when i clicked reply i was like WTF these additional words came from LOL guess there was an edit

15 front and 20 rear is def a good set up too. i had that briefly on my s5 but it was a bit too conservative for me. i went w/ 20 front 25 rear after and it was about perfecto. again it really depends on the drop and the look your going for. im a bit biased when it comes to spacers and dropping. if u dont drop, i suggest leaving it stock, 10/15 at most so it doesnt look too silly. for an aggreseive drop, 20 f 25 rear. but i guess your 15 front 20 rear is a great medium.

edit* another reason why i went with 20/25 is cause i wanted both spacers to be DRA's and 20 and 25 were the same price, so i thought, why not, go as aggresive as i can in the rear ( thats what she said )! if 25's were more expensive i woulda done 20/20

See everyone, this is why I love this forum! Someone answered a question that I posted on MY thread (of no real use to him/her) and then on top of that two other people weighed and gave their opinoins and at no point did they act like dicks and proclaim their disagree-"ness" about it.

So thank you guys a lot! I'm gonna look around at pictures and try to decide what I want. I don't hink I will be lowering it, at least for a while so the 10/15 setup sounds like a good starting point.

Thanks for the replies and help.

10/15 is def a good conservative fitment for a stock height car. you should be happy

keep in mind that would require longer bolts. ecs sells spacers sets w/ the bolts so its no hassle.

i took philosophy before btw xD

Ha, figured I'd start doing a little quote of the day/few days for everyone.

I think that's where I'm going to start.
Since I'm a total newbie here, I just want to double confirm everything.
    I went to both http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S5-...heels/Spacers/
and http://www.trakplus.com/ (and put in info just to see what worked with my car).

Which of the 10mm and 15mm from ecs will fit on the B8.5 S5? And will the ones that say "front only" still fit on the rears from H&R? (that has the potential to be the dumbest question ever). And I looked like the ones that fit on my car from H&R (the "DR" line?) Come with new bolts as well. Any confirmation of that?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    Thanks as always.

there was a thread about the H and R fronts working with the rears. i dont remember exactly why it was labeled for front only, it might have something to do with aftermarket wheels and the chamfer lip. ill let someone else chime in on that

as for ECS this is for the rear

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S5-...ers/ES2603081/

and this is for the front

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S5-...ers/ES2603073/

h and r DR's do NOT come with bolts. only the DRA's come with bolts. which is why i suggested ECS because it comes with bolts for about the same price as h and r. only when u go 20mm and over, i would recommend the H and R DRA cause you just use ur existing bolts with it. of course if you got the coin, u can get the h and r DR's and buy the bolts seperately ( around 1.50 each )

i run ecs spacers ( 6/7mm) and it works perfectly fine.

Thanks! Definitely looking to save the most as long as I don't forego quality. Can you notice a real difference at just 6 and 7mm?? Pics??

Believe it or not, just a few mm's can easily be seen. I'll post up some pics of my 0/3mm setup vs my 3/7mm. It's very apparent.

Thanks for the pics and examples! As I'm starting to realize, I think I'd prefer spending what little extra $$$ I do have after buying my baby on performance rather than aesthetics. I know it's a personal choice for everyone but I'm thinking that's my route. With that in mind, I'm still going to get tinted soon and hope to get some VAG-COM coding at my local cars and coffee next week, but don't think I'll be shelling out any green to lower it or for spacers. Instead, I hope to pick up an intake, an X-pipe to replace the center resonator (I hear that makes a big difference in exhaust noise and is very cheap), maybe some new exhaust tips, maybe the alu kreuz from ECS, and eventually an ECU tune which will obviously have the biggest impact since I am running the 3.0T instead of the 4.2 FSI.

    Thanks as always,

So I would love some input from anyone that has stuck around to still read this thread. The only quip I have with my car thus far is the supercharger. Don't get me wrong, having more torque lower in the rev range is great, but my father brought me up on big, naturally aspirated engines so I long for that deep throaty sound instead of a whine. I have been looking into replacing the center resonator with an x-pipe, as I have heard that adds volume and rasp to the exhaust and is very cheap. However, I was just offered a StaSis cat-back system with only 10k miles on it for about $500. Is there any reason I don't get the cat-back and go with the x-pipe instead? It seems like a great deal to me.

    Thanks for reading as always,

    ~Spencer
