APR stage 2 problems.

My car with a stasis tune only before apr stage 2 intake and apr exhaust on it went 12.94, I took advantage of the power play deal APR had pulley & stage 2 tune and went back to the track and my car now runs 13.43 @ 106 on the 93 octane map. It was 70 out and zero humidity. Do you think maybe they didn't install the tune maybe? Any ideas?

Hansel, you have a B8, so it should have the EMACS map switching via cruise control stalk. Make sure you're running the stage 2 map.

did you get the switchable one? If so, maybe its on the stock map? I got 4 maps on mine, the order I asked the shop to put them in wasn't what APR ended up giving me, double check with the pdf APR emailed if you haven't already. I asked for the 91 map in the first slot, but they ended up putting the stock map there for me.

I never got a email from apr. The shop wrote the programs on the back of the instructions on how to change the programs.

oh, maybe they stopped doing that, I guess you could double check with APR. Have you tried switching them yourself yet? Maybe the shop left it in the wrong slot?

Do you have a boost gauge? you should be close to 16PSI when your on the Stage2 map. That's usually how I tell, unless its a cold start in the morning since I have the version with the cold-start routine delete.

Yes, I have the "loaded" ECU. It's in the 2nd slot which is 93 octane. The thing that sucks this dealer is an hour and a half away.

I don't have a boost gauge, I was going to change the slot but didn't know what the outcome would be if I put it in the 104 file with 93 in the tank. Hopefully this can get fixed, didn't spend 1800 to go slower. Lol

Whatever happened to just getting a single damn tune on the ECU? What if you don't want map switching and you just want a single 93 or 91 tune? Can APR or GIAC for that matter accommodate just that and not code you with all the map switching logic they add on?

You can get a single map, you usually have to pay more for the switching and other maps, but during the summer/spring/winter/fall sales, you get them for free.

When did you get the tune? Seems like others that report slow cars have it suddenly come to life after a few hundred miles.

I got rid of my APR tune w/in the 30 day period after spending 2200 bucks and only getting a best time of 12.79 @ 107 on my 2014 and it threw a code or fuel pressure regulator. New car, read a couple others had the same code after getting tuned. I'm done w/ APR unless they can come out and say there is a fix for the 2014's... I only got 1169 back from that deal and totally dumped 1000 bucks on nothing... (pulley but useless w/o a tune). GIAC needs to put out a V2 for the b8.5 GRRRR!

That sucks. I have 1700 in a stasis tune and 1800 on this one and my car is a slow as it was day one from the dealership.

That's bullshit dude! Arin, this is crap business from you and YOUR dealers. Your dealer should have returned this guy's car back to stock and returned all his money. I don't care if he went Stage 2 and they had to do more of an install than just a 30 minute flash. Anything less and it's crap of you not standing behind your product.

I would have raised hell had I burned 1k for nothing. This is why I can't stand these loser companies sometimes. You rip people off by not crediting everything back, labor or not!

Your times indicate running a stock tune. You can try switching around the tunes to see if there is a difference, even on the race gas tune, with just 93 in the tank. The ECU will not blow up your motor in race gas tune with 93, it will just pull timing if it detects knock. If two or three tune positions feel the exact same, then either the dealer screwed up or maybe you have a code. Need to VAG com it.

I had a feeling it was, I did call APR two days after the flash was done. I explained to them that the car didn't feel that fast and to make sure it was in the 93 octane flash. They walked me through making sure it was in the right program. Which I did verify it was in slot 2. But the one salesman told me it takes some miles for the flash to adapt. Which makes no sense to me. I know on my x5m & 911 turbo once the flash was done thy made a lot of power. I figured maybe what he told me was correct so I never thought twice about it. Well now I know I was right but taking it to the track and seeing the ET's and the Trap speed.

Slot 3 - 100
Slot 4 - 104

It's my DD so I really don't rag on it all the time, so I really haven't " tested it" I guess compared to my other cars it's slower. So i really don't feel the need to rag on it too much. But it would be nice to make some 11 second passes in it.

I took it back to AWE to see what the heck was going on, they ran a buncha tests, came back and told me everything looks good and matches up with other Stage 2 GIAC cars, and charged me $150 while I sat there for 4+ hours waiting for them to tell me everything was fine. 13.6 at 105 for a Stage 2 is not fine, not when it was the BEST of 8 runs too. Cannot say I am too happy either these days.

Here is what you should be getting PSI wise via Stage 2 GIAC, I believe this was even before v2. It's a recording straight from analog boost tap to PLX device SM boost vac module, not from the OBD2 port:

Times are as much the driver as the transmission, tires, and tune.

GIAC had a handheld switcher, just push the well labeled button when collected over OBD2 and the new map is active.

Both major tuners sell single maps or multiple maps. I have never switched out of GIAC v2 93 octane.

Any chance poor quality gas could be the culprit? This includes old gas, bottom of tank, from Mobil, Shell, etc. just throwing out options.

I did the stasis to APR switch and I def noticed some power increase low end for sure and a bit at the high end.

Do you know if the shop cleared all the faults after the flash finished? It creates a lot of communication errors with modules and if they aren't cleared the car could possibly not be 100%. If you have anybody near you w vagcom do a full scan and see if it has anything come up.

Fault codes can be cleared via the cruise stalk with APR too. Either that or just pull the battery. That still works.

Engine fault codes can be cleared via the cruise control stalk on B8 cars with a fully loaded ECU and FCE/TBA, however the B8 uses UDP protocol and if there are faults in other control modules, there may potentially be a limit in power dues to restrictions (communication errors).

It takes a full scan of the car (all modules) to diagnose any potential issues.

When a particular car is producing power and/or results that are outside the mean, it is definitely not a software issue. The software does not change itself. These cars are very complex with multiple sensors that provide data to the ECM.

If you pull the battery, you will trigger a fault in every single control module in the car which will result in restricted power.

Instead of pressing and holding the button to switch maps, pull the entire stalk towards you. Do one, then the other.
1 blink = fault code erase

2 blinks = throttle body alignment ( can also try this one, car would then "relearn" your driving habits) car must be cold for this.

The engine log shows 13.6 psi at 5900 rpm so it's no behaving like stock. Hat being said its venting some boost so there is an issue. It would be worth logging timing pull.
