Just got a used 2012 Q5 from Royal Auto in SF. Of course...no user manual so far. So basically I don't know how to use my car.
I have connected my phone via bluetooth and what do I get....phone features only. That means I can get calls and talk to people but nothing about audio streaming.
I want to be able to stream Pandora on my phone and have it play on my car...just like every rental car I've had over the last 2 years. I also listen to a lot of audiobooks (or did before I bought this car) and I want to be able to playback Audible files on my phone and obviously over my car speakers. So far I can do all sorts of phone related things that don't include media streaming or playback. The SD card isn't an option since that doesn't stream or play audible file types.
For whatever reason, Audi opted not to install a USB port. You know...a UNIVERSAL connector that everything would work with. Instead is some doo dad in the glove box that doesn't connect to my current device, and I don't even know if I buy the correct connector I'll be able to play Audible files.
So...
1. Am I simply doing it wrong regarding the bluetooth and there is a fix?
2. If I buy the stupid connector will I be able to use every feature I care about?
3. Why no standard 3.5mm input or why not USB connector? I have had weird issues in the past where you can't play via USB because it thinks the files I bought are copyright which means I can't play via USB for some stupid reason, but at the least I could charge my phone.
