    Re: Sagging Headliner!!!HELP!!!!

OMG I have the exact same problem!!!!!! http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ight=headliner

I cleaned my headliner that it started sagging in the back on the one side!!!!

DON'T try and heat it up with a hair dry! It melted my headliner!!

If you find out how much a new headliner costs or an easy way of taking it out i would love to know!

the warranty will definitely cover this. That shouldnt ever happen, and if youre under warranty they'll take care of you. If youre not under warranty... could be a good time to get the suede headliner youve always wanted like the RS6 has. That would be sick.

no warranty for me :( Suede sounds expensive and more trouble than its worth if it gets dirty or starts sagging again!

Here's where to get a new one online for less than $400 shipped CLICK. Mine's sagging in one spot (less than yours, but I still want to fix it), and I plan on ordering this and fixing it this fall. It's not worth doing right now when it's so damn hot outside! I need an air conditioned garage!

looks like you have some stains in the corners from the sunroof drain lines, maybe thats why it came unglued? I had the same problem with the lines getting clogged and soaking my headliner, but it was under warranty so they replaced my headliner

    Re: Sagging Headliner!!!HELP!!!!

Great,I am not getting this fixed anytime soon. The dealership said that they have to remove the panels to "diagnose" the problem, and the diagnosis cost $125 bucks. If its under warranty and not my fault, then I suppose the fee will be waived.Well I remember one day leaving the sunroof cracked and having a pretty good amount of water get into the headliner and leaving some stains behind..so I wonder if they find out and will say they cant cover it...I dont wanna lose 125 for nothing!

    Anyway I have two options..

since this is not a major priority for my car(its only aesthetics..and u cant really tell) I suppose I can wait and when I get the chance have the whole thing replaced by Audi with my own $$$

Or I can order a OEM headliner or get a suede one and have a shop put it in for me...

    any suggestions guys and gals?

    Service and Repair

    Water Drain Hoses

    Water drain hoses, cleaning

NOTE: For cleaning we recommend a self-made tool from cores of speedometer cables with probe approx. 2300 mm long.

1 - Front water drain hose

Front water drain hoses -1- are routed through A-pillars and end between door and A-pillar. Clean from sunroof opening.
2 - Rear water drain hose

Rear water drain hoses -2- are routed in C-pillars and end at sides behind bumper cover. Clean from bottom end of hose, removing bumper cover to do so.

Before you spend a few hundred on a new headliner why not at least TRY to fix it yourself. Peel back the headliner around where it is already sagging and use a spray glue to stick it back on. That is how it is applied at the factory, the magic of glue.

I think its worth a try to save a few hundred dollars.

Wow, I think you're right; it's not showing up anymore. If I were you I'd send them an email or give them a call and ask. They can get parts that aren't listed. I'm not sure why they'd have taken it off their site though.

    Good luck!

Also, if anyone out here has replaced a headliner before, detailed instructions would be VERY appreciated. I'm a little nervous about doing this without some good instructions; I'd hate to mess something up.

Is there a link for a DIY anywhere out there?

For any who are interested, I installed the headliner this weekend. It was a PITA, because you have to remove so many other interior bits to do it.

Let me know if anyone needs help/tips on doing it. It took a while, but went smoothly and looks great now.

    OEM fabric?

Bumping an old thread rather than starting a new one.

I was driving my B6 yesterday and when I arrived home, I put it in reverse, turned around, and saw my headliner started to sag just like in the first few pics!!!

I plan on re-covering the headliner myself. Does anyone know of a source for OEM-type fabric found on the B6? You know that textured fabric that feels kinda like nylon. Thanks in advance!

Been there before, make sure you fix/seal the drain plugs so it doesn't happen again to your new headliner.

It doesn't always happen due to the drain plugs. Mine sagged simply because the adhesive/foam bond failed. Possibly poor quality. I'm not sure if this is a common thing and all cars' headliners fail at 100k/10yr, or what, but it seems like a common thing for B6's (and many VW's) with the light-colored headliner. I removed the pillars and the fabric is extremely difficult to rip off. However, with the headliner, it takes barely any force to peel the old fabric off, due to the failed bond..

I know it was not my drains that caused this, because they have never leaked (I have since done the "fix" as preventative maintenance), and the fabric sagged off in areas nowhere near the drain tubes.

Vapor, it's not OEM, but looks good IMO. Maybe you want to check out yourautotrimsupply.com (or whatever the website is called, its something like that).

Hard to believe since I thought the adhesive/foam bond failed only when exposed to water...do you have any stains at all? Even light ones in the areas they sagged???

my headliner recently failed out of the blue, no exposure to water. I'm guessing just time + heat cycling of the foam/glue.
