Generally the injector is "cleaned" vise removing its filter....or simply replaced.
That is if it is "confirmed" the filter is clogged in the first place.
Which often means the fuel filter, up stream is in bad shape and should be changed.

So after you clean them out with this method you just re-install and run as normal?

I kept them inside of plastic bags whenever I wasn't handling them, and did my best to keep them clean. I installed new O-rings (can be had for cheap as well, you don't have to use OEM). I believe it states in the manual that they have to be replaced each time you remove an injector, but I don't believe this. I think it's fine to re-use them as long as they aren't too old, and as long as you don't mangle them when removing them from the injector.

I gave them a day to dry, just because I was busy doing other things with the car. Maybe you could let the solvent dry over night?

I lubed the O-rings with fresh oil (as per the manual), re-installed, and all was well. I had to press the gas a little bit while starting the car, to get the engine running. I believe this is to get fuel into the fuel rail (it pours out when you remove injectors). Maybe there's a specific procedure for this, such as "press the gas pedal X times, then start the car" to fill up/pressurize the fuel rail.
    Appreciate it!

Will be doing this next month for my 3.0 BGN.

10-30 cents per filter is a ripoff price? You said above you can do this for ~$1. Which is it, a bargain or a ripoff?

My question is what does a B5 S4 engine have in common with the B6 1.8t or 3.0? Same injectors?

I fully understand the benefits of cleaning injectors. However is it really "needed" every 30, 000 miles and on every
Vehicle? For as many years as I have been on this and various other Audi forums I have never seen or heard of such a requirement for the B6 A4. My 1.8t TT 225 OE injectors have performed fine for over 140,000 miles....zero signs or symptoms they need cleaning or replacement.

Much depends on the grade of gasoline that is run in the car....changing the fuel filter...etc...etc...

Top-tier gas solves a lot of issues. Top-tier gas is all I run in my vehicles. I only run Chevron and Costco premium octanes in my cars. Only after my local indy shop guy told me that Costco gas was good did I start using it. I left cheaper Arco, 7-11 and Circle-K gas back in my high school days

A small bench top ultrasonic cleaner would be useful for cleaning the injectors during the filter replacement.

Fuel injector cleaner concentrate for adding to the fuel tank for use in the ultrasonic cleaner tank, a couple of bottles of Chevron Techron is my suggestion.

    CLICKY CLICK*

I just ordered this today. Going to split the kit with Evo-Ski. Just search for "bosch injector service" in ebay. You want a kit that fits Bosch Type 3 injectors (if there is a picture be sure the injector looks like our injectors, plastic skinny injectors). There are a ton of kits, I'm guessing they're all pretty much the same. I bought an 8cylinder kit as its not much more than a 4 cylinder kit and I figured I would just split it with someone else. Makes the total cost for each person $14 instead of $25.

Same as what I linked. They're the same type 3 injectors as the standard ones. I might have my kit by the end of the week so I can confirm by the weekend that it's the right one. I'm 99% certain it is given all the research I've done.

Ah yes. The filters in the kit definitely work. I tested the fitment out on one of my old OEM injectors and while it was tricky to get the old filter out the new one for perfectly. Since the TT injectors have the same design it should fit them 100%.

I would have updated sooner but I'm focusing on selling b7 so I just haven't had much time to deal with my b6.

im curious as to why you would even put the filters back in?...

Your fuel filter should catch this shit... anyone found pieces of stuff the filter didnt catch or just pieces of the little filter itself?...
