    Convert A4 to A4 allroad

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi!

Have some questions, hope someone has an answare me. I have an A4 B8 and thinking about what differ with the chassis, between A4 B8 and A4 Allroad B8 , as i want more ground clearance.

What differ more than springs and shocks? Is it more or less all the chassis, then its no point. But feels like it should not be very much changes compared to a "standard" chassis?

So, is it reasonable to lift my A4 with A4 allroad suspension, and what parts do i need?

    Thanks for your respons!

Not only higher, but slightly wider wheel base - from that of the A5 IIRC.

i don't think the suspension is a straight swap, the shocks may be but i doubt the springs are as the car is a different weight and everything.

but really? stock oem suspension isnt high enough for you lol :P

+1 I don't know why anyone would want to jack up the suspension to 4x4 status.

Although the front end and fender flares, as seen below, would look awesome.

Okey, thans for you answare. I have recently moved in to a house on the contry in sweden..and therefore my question ;) . In the winter we got really deep snow.. i think lifting would be smarter than lowering (...or changing car, but i want a sedan)

You could maybe convert to air suspension and raise the car only when you need it?

I have a house in the mountains in Quebec and I have a drive select suspension which is as low as the sport suspension and I never had problems with it the being too low...

Next car might be some kind of SUV only because I am tired of sitting so low to get in and out of the car...

Not too high though, maybe something like a BMW X4, not many choice in the Audi line compared to BMW which has the X1, X3, X4, X5 and X6 !

    Wake up Audi !

And to think that Audi is supposed to be the king of four wheel drive !

Between the guys here who want to convert their Allroads to Avant and the guys who want their Avants to be Allroads... why don't you guys just trade cars, it's going to be much cheaper.

The first difference in terms of suspension is that it uses a different shock and spring. The second is that it uses the control arms and related parts from the A5.

If you look around on here several people have taken the A4 sport suspension and put it directly on the allroad.
I don't see why you couldn't do the opposite. For the shock and spring assembly, the only part other than the actual shock and spring that is different between the A4 and Allroad is the 'bump stop' that fits on the shock absorber. All other related parts are identical in part # between the two vehicles. I checked because I plan to do the allroad--> sport suspension conversion.
Because the control arms are longer on the Allroad - your suspension geometry will be slightly different and you will sit at a slightly different height than an actual Allroad, I think...

The springs come in a range of weight codes which you would need to select based on your actual vehicle weight - that will be the tricky part.
If you look on your options sticker (manual booklet or spare tire well) There will be two codes 0J* and 0Y* These are your front and rear weight codes.

Using these codes you can select the correct spring part# for your vehicle weight -- assuming the weight codes are a direct correlation between the A4 and the Allroad.
I have not confirmed that the weight codes are identical correlation yet. If anyone has more info on this specifically I'd love to hear it.

Brand new parts for shocks/springs/bump stops are about $1500USD.

Ha, that was my first thought, until I saw he wanted an Allroad sedan.
