I'm in Sterling Heights but the car is STILL down for a motor rebuild. I'll be at all of those shows with my shitty b5s4 though

how common are engine rebuilds on these? The B6/B7 S4 guys seem to have to shell out $10k+ just for a bottom-end build. I heard the really tough part is honing the cylinders with the Alusil coating.

Recommended timing belt service is 30k IIRC. Other wise is a pretty reliable 4.2L. The few owners I have talked to haven't mentioned any issues with the motor.

A motor rebuild is not a timing belt. I was curious if he's actually taking the block apart, apparently honing the cylinders is a hard job on these.

The Gumpert Apollo motor is not the RS6 motor. I'm fairly certain it's a built chain drive 4.2

I'm with proto. Everything I have read indicates that the Gumpert uses the RS6's engine.

I'd imagine it has stronger internals, though.

The engine size would disagree. Gumpert is 4163cc, RS6 is 4172cc.

EDIT: After looking you guys are right... It says 4163cc everywhere for the Gumpert though, weird.

so Jason doesn't think the stock exhaust manifold are going to be a restriction with that size of turbo. the outlet on the manifold is about the same size as the 2.7t

Meh. 2.7ts have made 740whp on 770s so I don't think it's going to be an issue. Not going for 1,000whp or anything. We shall see I guess

This thread makes me realize how small the world actually is.....my cousin is married to james pieron's sister and he was the reason
they got an RS6 as a company car. Christmas of 07 they were sitting in my bar and robby is telling me about HIS RS6 and how it handles
the trip to amsterdam and saying the car might come stateside because it's been outlawed in switzerland........what a trip. Would you
believe tripping is how he came up with the idea to make money off trading currency......wtf.

They aren't THAT big but should hold boost up too compared to the rs6 framed turbos. Can't wait

Yea this rs6 is going to be RS SICK.....from the way you were close to sub 2 second fats before the motor build,I see this thing being a 60-130+
animal..........I heard 200 mph was hit multiple times and it got there kinda quick. 1/4 mile times are good and all but its a lot of wear and tear
on such a high dollar ride I think i'd be trying to find a michigan mile kind of event....But more power to you for going after a 10 sec 1/4 in such
a nice ride and driving it the way you have. You really went big.
