Get out and change your factory speakers - now!

Im not an audiophile in any way, but i listen to a lot of music, like most i guess. I had a 10" Kenwood sub tube laying around in the garage and when i finally got around to installing it i thought i might as well upgrade the front speakers as well.

What a f***ing difference! I mean there's no expensive stuff up front, 6.5" Infinity Reference speakers, tweets and filters. No new cables, no amp for the front system, just new speaker elements. Maybe $250 for the package. But the result was so much better than the factory stuff that i ended up spending two hours in the car outside my house just listening to music.

I urge you to do this mod. It's worth it even if all you do is listening to the nice Nav+ lady ;-)

Wow you seem really impressed, was it the stock system or Bose that you upgraded?

No, i've got the stock system. From what i've heard it's a bit of a hassle to upgrade the Bose version...

When I was buying my car I sat in a normal audio A4 and then in an A4 with the Bose package. I was truly shocked at the huge difference in quality. Not just in terms of bass output and power, but even at low levels, the bose trounced the standard audio. Before listening to them both side by side, I'd planned on skipping the bose and saving myself a grand... needless to say, I bought a car with the Bose.

I paid for Bose but I"m pretty sure I got standard. The standard system is lacking in bass, I listen to music with a lot of bass so I can definitely tell. I'm calling AoA tomorrow about it.

Actually, that is why i did not order the BOSE system. The car audio nerds that i hang out with told me that basically the best way to get good sound in a ride is to use only a quality two way system in each front door (and a center), disconnect the rear speakers and add a well balanced sub. Just like at home, two LINN speakers and a sub is way better (for music) than the most bling bling surround sound system. So that is what i did, and the results were excellent, as i told you.
My new front speakers alone plays bass better than the full factory 10 spkr system with sub...

    ^^2nd That.

I don't really know how the Bose Premium Sound package sounds with the B7, but I had the Bose PS with my B5 (2001 A4) and it was terrible. I had blown out the speakers twice -- that's twice in 4 years! And I don't listen to Megadeath at full blast - 90% of the time my radio is tuned to the news.

B/C of my B5 experience, I opted out when it came time to pick out my B7. I can't tell the difference between my stock B7 system and my B5's Bose PS, for what it's worth, anyway...

i've had 2 A4's with Audi Symphony stock audio system and i love it. My dad has a TT with the Bose system and i really dont like it as much as Audi Symphony either. Bose doesn't seem to hit as hard on the bass and i dont notice any difference in sound quality between the two.
