    Tip:Transmission problem and Questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am having some really annoying transmission problems with my 2006 Tip... I am having a bad kick going into from 1>2 and then 3>2... I changed the ATF, filter and gasket which ran me $415 in just parts and still have the same issue!!.. now my question is I have a Transmission code of HKC I can get a HYH for dirt cheap.. would this be a direct swap? what can of worms am I opening by switching it to a different trans code? any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

I don't know if I would go THAT far yet. It could be a simple software update.

It would be cheaper than a tranny swap either way

Go to the dealer, or have someone with a Vagcom hook it up. Tell them you need the transmission info, if you end in any number under ******USA 0040, it's not updated

Either get a new transmission or sell the car before it shits on you!

I have been by the dealer and by the guys at Advanced Trans that we can't cross over trans codes on the 6hp19.

Based on my experience, yours is on it's way out. Unless you've got the coin to rebuild it I would consider a manual swap or a good used trans from Shokan.

No not all, this is the solution for an Audi owner! Hahahhahahha
Seriously though, of you have CVT, Tiptronic, STronic.....if yer tranny starts bucking, then you in for a wallet fu@kin. Hahhahhahhaha
Do some research on www.car-part.com and find a used replacement or look into a rebuild. Hopefully it's an issue with the mechatronic unit.....that will keep it under 2k. Audi has ZERO clue on how to fix these ZF boxes I'm afraid. Why? Why for the love can't they diagnose issues with their trans instead of the usual, " that will be 8k for a new unit son......sorry." BS.

You have an 09L Transmission, that's what matters I believe.

Ask me! I've had my CVT replaced at 39K, then two weeks later it needs to be replaced AGAIN along with the flywheel. It is never the same again. I hope the OP gets his transmission fixed, but as far as I know, there are way too many transmission problem threads herein AZine - whether it be CVT, Tip, DSG, or whatever that I haven't heard of.

Sorry to hear that 80s dude. The AZ is replete with these horror stories. Basically if you're rolling Audi, you're already somewhat of a masochist....if you're rolling CVT you basically are a guy bound in leather with a ball in the mouth. Ok, ok, I'm exaggerating there but......
Sell that thing and get a Tip or Manual.....you've been on the wrong end of two of these foul CVT's....the GW Bush quote about fooling me twice comes to mind.

I just got off the phone with audi again and they are telling me I have to bring it in and have them diagnose it and then they'll tell me what it is.. but I have a feeling that they are just going to result to " you need a trans" lol.. instead of letting me just buy the software update to see if it helps.. I asked if I can just purchase the update without diagnosing the car and they said they can't sell the software over the counter like that...

Why sell a software update when you can sell em a whole new trans to the tune of 6-7k!!
Some of these dealers are just crooks.
You have to be so careful out there. My girl's neice just got a suggested list of repairs for her Ford Focus, which I will prolly try to take care of her on.
$225 for a valve cover gasket---30 min job, $20 part.
    $800 for a new power steering pump. $85 for part w core----maybe a 1 hr job.
    $90 coolant flush.
I get they have rent and power and insurance and what not---I guess its bills to ill advised people that keeps em in business!
