Started upgrading my B7, already want more

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After only 4 months and 8k miles, I started to make some changes to my A4 2.0TQ. I had a cat-back installed and I'm pretty happy. The sound is amazing and the added power is much more than I'd hoped for.
Now I think I need to make some other changes to back up the low rumble the exhaust is putting out. Any suggestions out there for the B7? I haven't seen a whole lot out there for the B7. I'm new to cars (always driven trucks) and I want this to be sweet. I'm looking at maybe a cold air intake and getting it tuned, but I'm way too new to start without some good advice.
I've read about every single post out there, but I'm still lost. For the tuning, can anyone recommend a shop in southern California?
Also, at what point does the warranty get voided for performance modifications?

    Cheers!

You should get a chip if you haven't already done so, that will release the potential of your engine and your exhaust. As for warrenty, I'm still waiting to hear from APR about their chip regarding warrenty issue... I'm sure it depends on your dealership too, but if the exact part ain't causing the problem, I don't see a reason why they would void it, but that's just what I think.

If you hear anything back from APR and you know of a good shop near you, please pass it on to me. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Have you done anything else to your car?

I would keep your intake stock .. I dont think an aftermarket intake will do much , just add sound.
Def chip your car , APR should be coming out with a flipswitch program that allows you to switch it back to stock.
Great for when you go into the dealer!

Sounds like APR is the way to go. It seems like everyone has their favorite. Does anyone know of a website or a forum that has the different tuning options for the B7?
Do you know when APR will be releasing the program you mentioned? Their website still has "Coming Soon".
Anything else I should do other than the chip and exhaust?

I would also look into suspension or upgrading the breaking if you haven't done so already. Suspension is the best way to keep the car glued to the road and handle as if it were on rails, which is a big plus if your looking to add a lot of power. You also must remeber that your going to have to eventually come to a stop so udgrading to bigger breaks would also be a great upgrade.

I bought the car with the sport suspension. Should I still look into upgrading it?
I think I'll look into bigger brakes when the warranty expires. Good idea.

Changing the suspension is totaly up to you, I opted not to go with the sport suspension only because i knew i was going to upgrade eventally anyway. I'm going to go with coilovers which are fully adjustable so i could choose my own ride height plus the lower the car the lower center of gravity which helps alot in in the handling characteristics.

I went to a local shop in Oceanside Ca, which does their own custom exhaust. I had bullet mufflers with the cat-back. I decided to go with a custom job instead of an aftermarket job. I realized that with a custom job, they would save on pipe and make sure that it was as straight as possible (they want to save on pipe as much as I wanted to save money). After seeing the results, I definitely recommend it. The name of the shop is Warners if anyone in Southern California is interested. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

I'm working on an interior trim project that anyone with an A4 B7 may be interested in. I want to replace the aluminum trim with texalium (silver carbon fiber). Since I bought the car, I've thought the trim would look better if it was the carbon fiber I felt the designers were looking for. I'm pretty excited about it. I'll post pictures and some directions as they come.

Wow, big thumbs up to ABT that kit just flows really well with the lines on the car and those wheels just match perfectly.

Upgrade the shocks and springs then add a set of H-Sport swaybars.

Your car will handle like it was on rails.

Yeah, that's a little steep. I'd rather spend the money on something that's going to improve the performance than just the looks. It does look nice, though.

^^^ yepp, that's my car. the Abt kit cost an arm and a leg due to shipping and freight. i also run the 19-inch Abt SP1 wheels, the Abt racing-spec coilovers, which was about $400 more than the street and i've got the Abt shiftknob, shiftboot and door sills and emblems coming. i get all my Abt produkts from germany directly. payce, mikey
