    splash shield

    hello,

I noticed that when I bought my car that the splash shield was missing. I asked for a used car parts dealer here in Canada for a quotation and he came with the following part number : AU1228102.
I did a google and found on the internet that this splash shield is used on sedans and convertibles 2.0t, 3.2, 1.8T and 3L engines and this for the B6 and B7.
Can somebody confirm that this part works on my 2007 2.0 quattro convertible.

I have seen knockoffs at all kind of prices. Anybody ever dealt with those people and are their shields good : https://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,cat...AU1228102.html

I don't want the metal splash shield.

I'm also looking for the front plate filler on the grill for a convertible s-line.

    thanks for the help

get an aluminum one. the plastic ones don't last and you may end up buying a new one after every winter. I bought the thor skid plate and have had a few times i was very happy to have it.

I don't think they have something for the convertible.

Shouldnt the one for the regular B7 sedan and the B7 convert be the same? Also, I'd definitely go with another black plastic one vs a sliver metal one but that might just be me...

I bought it last summer and noticed it but now I want to install one. So in other words the previous owner lost it. It is an s-line so it is a little bit lower then the regular ones.

I have the thore and it's a beast. Only problem is that sometimes when starting and coming to a stop it rattles on my oil pan I think.

get new urethane spacers to replace the crappy plastic ones it comes with. also helps absorb any impacts the skid plate may take. the thor has saved my oil pan a few times so its well worth its price.

I bought some thicker ones from home depot but they were plastic and still rattles on the oil pan. you know where to get some urethane ones?

to be honest i found mine at my friends shop, i beleive they are subaru wrx subframe bushings actually. I can't remember, they are a replacement suspension bushing though.
my best guess is they are these, http://www.tougetuning.com/store/kar..._86_93_137_379

Seems that for the convertible you have only the original audi spash shield. All aluminium ones are for sedan and wagon only.

If somebody knows an other source please let me know.

    thanks

If you're being told that a splash shield fits the sedan and convertible, then the aluminum ones will fit it too (as they obviously fit the sedan and avant, they're the same).
But since you don't want an aluminum one, you're stuck with plastic.
For the $30 for the RockAuto one, just go with that. It's only $30 and it's likely VERY similar to the original except made by a different mfg'r.

at thore they told me that they don't have the skid plate for the convertibles.

the cheap rockauto option could be the solution. I maybe will have to drill other holes and do some cutting.

What if I drive without the skid plate? A dirty engine and a risk of killing the oil sump....

I actually have a related question... does anybody have the part numbers and diagram for the fasteners?

I took off my splash shields to do some work and can't for the life of me figure out where I put the screws. Guess I need to order all new ones :(

Do you need the whole kit (here: http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_A4-....0T/ES2587686/) or just the screws (8D0805121)? Those guys are $5 a pop (!!), but they have cheaper aftermarket ones too.

Actually europaparts.com has the screws for $3 each. Slightly more reasonable.
