    Matte mirror cap protection

Planning on installing the OE matte Alu mirror caps on my RS this weekend (many thanks, Alex), and I'm wondering what films look reasonable on these caps? The Xpel I have on my body-color caps doesn't seem like a good match.

For that reason, I opted not to protect my mirrors with film. Like you, I thought the gloss effect of the film would look bad. The good news is that so far so good. No chips and they still look like new.

One thing you might try is the Adams quick sealant. It won't turn glossy and would provide some protection against bugs, mud, etc, but not as much as film.

That's a good call, bk. If it doesn't look right, I'll tear it off and save the can for something else.

Could also experiment with glossy clear dip. I would not worry to much about it though. Mirror caps are not really a hot spot for chips. And the alu ones will not chip like paint, only pit.

I assume OP getting the alu plastic OEM RS 5 mirrors? I really dislike them compared to the silver painted caps on my S5. How do you guys keep them look clean? I've not tried any sort of polish ... yet. I do use CG V7 and they look a little better, but just seem to stay spotted all the time ... weird.

I hit them with Adams detail spray once a week. All good.

There is such a thing as a matte finish clear bra, ask around your local shops if they carry it. Most will have the gloss/clear but you may get lucky
