Well I pulled the diff out, and managed to tear it down some. Btw what a PITA ! Anyway it is indeed the center diff. Anyone have any suggestions to a company that makes parts for our differentials ?

In your situation, I'd contact JHMotorsports about a center diff. 4:1 FTW.

But wouldn't that mean changing the final drive ratio in the transmission?

No, the 4:1 doesn't refer to the final drive, it refers to the power split. Basically you can have 80% of the power go to front or rear. Can't remember what the ratio is stock.

No. The center differential is responsible for distributing torque to the front and rear wheels.

    JHM describes it best:

The factory torsen center differential in the S4 and A4 provides a 2:1 torque distribution between front and rear. What does this mean? This enables the end of the car that still has traction (most of the time the rear) to deliver double the torque to the tires with traction. JHM's experience has found that this closer to even distribution is best for drag racing. So this modification is not for you if you are into drag racing primarily. However for Auto Crossers, Road racers and others who prefer the twisties JHM recommends a bias ratio of 4:1. This is the same bias ratio that Audi has provided in the stock RS4 driveline.

I'm like 99.9999999% sure it is 50:50. Newer ones are 60:40

Well, I know its 50:50 by default, but the max split is something like 60:40.
