    Rust Warranty and Loaner

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, I actually managed to get Audi to honour the rust warranty on my Avant!

I dropped it off at the dealer today and was told that Audi doesn't cover loaners for the rust warranty. They sent me down the street to Enterprise and told me it would be at their cost. Turns out that was that I'm paying, but at the rate they would pay. I checked with Audi Canada and they told me that loaners are not covered unter the rust wattanty and any loaner would be at the dealer's discretion.

So, I have a Chrysler Town & Country and I'm paying $30 per day until I get my Avant back.

Has anyone else gotten a loner or a rental covered while their car was in the shop for rust warranty?

I did NOT get a loaner for warranty rust work. Just out of curiosity, would you describe it as a "perforation" ? Hatch? Under door blades? Fenders? All the above?

I had some bubbling around the third brake light and the driver's tail light on the hatch, some more bubbles starting on the ends of my rear wheel wells and orange showing at the fender seam at the bottom rear of one of my fronts.

No loaner, it's true. When I got my A4 there was a couple of rust bubbles where the right side panel meets the rear bumper. I didn't notice it before I washed it the first time. Audi paid under the rust warranty, but I had to insist to get a loaner. I told them they sold me a rusted car, and that I would not pay a cent. I got a Rabbit as a loaner for a few days. Worst car ever. Can't believe some people like to drive these things... Anyway, Audi didn't pay for it, but the dealer did.

Haha. I always thought they'd give audis for loaners. I was at an audi dealer in West Palm,FL and saw a customer being given a loaner. And the loaner was??? A crummy crown vic. Lol, this could've been a taxicab if it was just yellow. Even the older gentleman was smirking as the porter pulled it up to him. Priceless

Good to hear they're honoring this. I had a little bubble forming between my rear bumper and the back quarter panel. We finally had a nice day the other day so I went and washed her and not that bubble is gone and just some rust is exposed. Once we get off 12hr shifts I'll take her up to the dealership.

So my rear passenger door blade is sticking out a little. It has began to rust on the inside make the tip closest to the fron passenger door stick out. I CAN yell it's rust because when I take it off, you can see all the layers of rust where the tab is that slides in the rail. Would that be covered?

I don't have any good quality pictures, but the bubble by the third brake light was as high top to bottom as the light itself and probably about a finger width or 2. There was discolouration visible through the clearcoat and the paint was beginning to crack from underneath: a sure sign that the metal underneath is rotten. The other spots were not quite as bad, but not far behind.

As far as getting the warranty honoured goes, I know from my own experience and from what I've read that it is very hit or miss. I had it in and submitted the rust back in August, but never heard a thing back . I followed up several times, but never got a clear answer. I had it in to the dealer in January for a heat shield to be replaced and I brought it to the service advisor's attention that I had been waiting 6 months for an answer on my warranty claim. He got it re-documented and re-submitted and told me that 6 months was too long for me to have waited. I ended up getting a reply in about 2 weeks. They told me that they had checked it over and that it passed the inspections like the repainting test, etc. and that it looked valid to submit. Apparently Audi has authorized repainting of the panels and not replacement of the hatch.

Anyway, when it comes to the rust warranty, all I can say is to be persistent and polite and maybe you'll get somewhere.

I am still disappointed about not having a loaner or rental covered. I don't think the expectation that the manufacturer would cover your transportation while fixing their manufacturing errors is unreasonable. On the plus side, at least I was able to go back to Enterprise and swap the minivan for a Charger.

Yeah, I have some rust in there too... I have to remove all blades and see the extend of the damage. I don't know if it's covered though, but I don't see why it wouldn't be. I'll have to ask my dealer about that because I think 3 of my doors have that problem.

They change my hatch door on my avant because of rust around third brake light and bubbling under tail light. They fixed the quarter panel too where it meet the bumper. They decline the front fender because they are assholes. this is my rust fender thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...r-it-will-rust
and they dont pay for loaner and for blending the paint.

I don't understand, what does a loaner has to do with your car being rusty or not? If you need work done on your car and decide to leave it, then they should give you a loaner if available. My '08 was at the shop last month for transmission work and got a 2014 B8, now it is back last week and I ended up with a 2013 Q7, loving the Q7 so far but hated the B8 compared to our B7s.

It's basically an issue of who pays for the loaner. Audi won't pay for a loaner on rust warranty claims so any loaner would be at the dealer's expense. The amount that the dealer will make on a warranty job is less than what they will make on a service job, so it comes down to a cost/benefit analysis.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but it really sends the message that the dealer thinks my satisfaction as a customer is worth less than the cost of a loaner or rental for 3 days.

That said, I have to say that the front-line service advisors have always been good to me.

You guys have been getting entire panels replaced/repainted for just bubbles?! I heared it was only applicable when an entire panel was rusted through so perforated.

I ask because I have 2-3 rust bubbles on my car now with the opening the size of a pin maybe but soon enough the paint will flake off in that spot and I doubt they will warranty a few (dime sized) spots randomly on the car but maybe I am wrong?
