    RS5 rotors and pads, help!

As noted in another post I did a track day this weekend, first time with my 2014 RS5, 3200 miles on it. I have upgraded to stainless steel brake lines and Motul 600 fluid, stock rotors and pads. I did a quick inspection in the sunlight today and noticed on both front rotors streaks and that some of the holes are filled. I did find that under hard braking the brakes were slipping slightly.

Attached is a pic of one of the front rotors. I am assuming I need to replace the front pads, but what about the rotors? If you zoom in you can see that some of the outer drilled holes are filled in with some material that looks like brake pad material, but hard to tell.

Help!!! I am thinking of going with hawk performance ceramics. I am also checking to see if Porterfield carries the RS-4 pad for the RS5. I use that pad on my Aston and it's a great mix of street and track, low dust, no squeal.

Why don't you take the wheel off and inspect the rotors more closely? Maybe clean them up as well as those holes... I don't think I'd replace them unless there's some huge shaking when braking.

Looks to me like you glazed the rotor (transfer of excess pad material from heat). I had this exact thing with my s5 after my first track day. In fact I had a shudder while breaking. It wasn't severe and I was taking my time deciding which rotors I wanted to go with, but after a couple weeks of normal driving I noticed the shudder was disappearing. Sure enough after 3-4 weeks it was completely gone and the rotors looked fine. Normal driving basically cleaned the rotors for me. In fact, I have heard that most cases of a shudder from "warped rotors" are actually glazing. Truly warped rotors are very rare.

Thanks guys, agreed, I think it's glazing as well. I am going to put a better pad on see how the next track day goes. I am running another track in 2 weeks.

It's too bad you didn't track the car before and after doing the mods. It would have been a good test of how effective your additions are.

As I mentioned in your track thread, Pagid RS29. But for track only. For street, get the Axis pads or something simple. You won't regret the Pagid's, but they're noisy and expensive.

I just found out porterfield carries the rs-4 pad for the rs5. I have used them on my vantage, great for street and track. Low dust no squeal. I will be putting them on before my next session. Stuart from velocity ap helped me out. Great guy and he is trying to get into rs5 mods. I think they have an entire exhaust system available. I have it installed on my vantage. Awesome sound.
