Would 275/35/19 tires on 10" wheels rub?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i want to buy a set of wheels and tires for occasional track use, and summer use.
if our rims are 9" rims, then i thought i needed to go wider.
i also wanted to get more rubber on the road for track use.
i was shying away from 275/30/19 because my speedo is already 4% inaccurate, so this setup might improve the accuracy.
i will keep the stock brake calipers and suspension.

The speedo is off, but the speed the ECU reports is actually correct. If you go to a bigger tire size, your Odometer will be inaccurate.

I currently run 265/35-19's and my speedo is now ~1 - 2% off GPS and ECU (based on RSNE diagnostic) speed (e.g., 70mph speedo = 69 mph gps/rsne). When running 275/30-19, my speedo was close to 8 - 9% off.

    thank you.
    you are using 10" wheels?
any downside to your 275/35/19 setup?

    thanks.
you are running 275/35 but on 18 x 10" wheels? they fit over stock front brake calipers?
however, i am having trouble understanding how a larger diameter tire will increase my 3-4% inaccurate speedo. i currently show 83 on speedo while gps shows 80mph. i expected it to go the other way with 275/35/19 setup.

35 sidewall will rub hands down with 19s. go 30 and you will be fine. also, willtheyfit.com will show you the difference of mph between stock and aftermarket

I think he would be fine with a 265/19 on stock suspension. Im lowered and dont rub.

265 is narrower. It's that 275 width that will catch the fender. Either lower profile or narrower you're good. Just not 275/35, that's why nobody runs them, they rub. Not a lot, just enough.

Oh 275/35 is a different story, thought everyone was discussing the 265/35 to 275/30 debate....

I was just answering the question to the thread. But if that's the case, carry on.

ok. if 275/35/19 is a risk with 10" wheels, i now see i can go with 9.5" wheels for summer use.
tire rack has some rims that show the following:

    Size: 19x9.5
    Offset: 34mm
    Backspacing: 6.46"
    Bolt Pattern: 5-112
    Rec. Tire Size: 255/35-19
    Weight: 30.0lbs.
    Finish: Machined w/Anthracite Accent
Construction: 1pc. Low Pressure Cast & Shot Peened

so i've just changed my OP question to - will 275/35/19 tires on the above 9.5" wheels rub?
i asked tire rack, and they won't commit to a no-rub answer. they said to ask you guys.
keep in mind - no change to stock suspension/calipers and rotors.

Willtheyfit.com has them 11.4mm/.44 inches closer to the suspension (assuming oem wheels have 29mm offset up front?). i dont know if that's in the rub zone.
is it possible to get underneath the car to see/measure if i have a half inch clearance?
it shows only 1.3mm further outside width.
also, it says i lose 7mm of arch gap.

OP, why are you so intent on getting wider wheels?

There was a very recent discussion on this same topic: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-wheel-vs-19x9

i wanted more street tire tread on the ground when i'm at the road tracks during the summer, usually only 3 times a year.
i felt the car start to slide earlier than i would have liked, but i've only been out once with it, on the oem Pirelli's.
my car has 200 lbs more weight than the sedan, so i thought i'd run a 275/35/19 setup, with upper end summer tires, and on different rims to preserve the original rims.
