In the middle of nowhere, the belt broke. Thought it was the battery and took it to a VW dealership to get a new one, but was told belt broke. Having it towed to Tyson's corner audi. Hope they don't bend me over.

I had a squeaking noise which turned out to be my serpentine belt on my S6. Total was like $220 after labor. Not too bad.

That's not bad at all. Did they have to remove the bumper?

No idea. They also replaced my coolant tank, so there's a possibility. However my Audi dealer only charges $100 per hour, whereas the other one near me charges $120, so that also may be a factor.

Fortunately the C6 serpentine belt change CAN be done without putting the car in service position (removing front bumper). Unlike the C5 belt, which DID require to be put into service position.

The 4.2 is extremely tight and tough to do, but I've seen good techs who know what they are doing, be able to do the job.

If the dealership had to put the car in bumper in service position, your charge would have been close to triple what they charged ;)

I thought that with the 05 and 06 4.2, which are pre FSI, that the front bumper had to be removed and that it was not until 07 that you could leave the bumper on. Of course my service tech may just have big beefy hands and takes the bumper off so he can get his big paws in there ;)
