I bought a car with the ko4 setup on it with the unitronic stage 2+ on it. I want to swap it over to my car the turbo injectors exhaust everything. Ive read you have to solder and shit for the ecu but id rather not do that. I was wondering what if i took my whole steering column out replaced it with the one from the car i bought and along with that replace the cluster from mine to the other one as well. will this work?

i do not see why not as the immobilizer for the cars are in the cluster and column.

not sure where you read what you did, but it's not accurate. The immo is a shared secret key between the ECU and the instrument cluster - ie, they have to be paired together. If you have the ECU and cluster from the 2+ car, just swap both and you're good to go, but you'll need to re-pair your keys (and replace the RFID chips in them). Or you can simply re-pair the 2+ ECU with your existing cluster (need the 4-digit SKC from both ECUs and VCDS), assuming Unitronic doesn't have some sort of block against that like Revo/APR.

I have the cluster from the 2+ car and a key to go along with it thats why i was saying i would just swap my steering column out with the 2+ car since i have a key for it and swap clusters and i should be good right?

from what he said, you dont need to replace the steering column, you just swap the ecu and the cluster, take the immobilizer chip from inside the key (gray little cylinder) and swap it on the new fob and you are good to go.

^This. Afterwards you can buy new chips for the other keys you have and program them to work with the new ecu and cluster too.

You could also have the immobilizer disabled, so that the ECU becomes plug and play with the existing gear
