Oh god I think it shit the bed.. Oil pressure need help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was driving home last night and out of no where the low oil pressure indicator came up on the display and then the engine started chugging. Like a full blown diesel sound.. No check engine light came on and when I stopped to check the oil it had plenty in it, tried searching on the forum but couldn't find anything it could be. When I just started it up this morning there was no low oil pressure indicator but the engine was still chugging. I had the cam follower and oil changed about 3k miles ago.

With the engine chugging theres also a knocking sound. Before this happened the car has been running fine, no issues what so ever so I have no idea, just stumped. I had to drive about a mile to get to my house and i went about 30 mph being very easy, all while the engine was chugging and it just wasn't good. I'm going to tow it to the dealer on monday and if they can't do anything i'm just going to trade it in and be done with it. This is the last straw with this thing

    Help?

Well, since you drove it with low oil pressure, I would be prepared for a rebuild.

That's some bad luck right there. Might be time to trade it in and call it a day if it's having any other issues at this point.

I drove my car with low oil pressure cel. For about 5 minutes. Tore the whole front of the car/motor apart to check the oil pump only to find out the oil filter was clogged as hell.

Damn... never heard of the oil filter getting clogged! Are you replacing your filter with every oil change? There's a thread on how the Mobil 1 oil filters collapse in our systems and we are pretty much deeming them GARBAGE

Let the car sit since Saturday, started it up and it sounded normal maybe a tad rougher. Still have the P000A code and the others but there isn't a CEL on. No Low oil pressure indicator when I started it either, possibly because it's cold (30F)

There is your problem right there. What oil did you use with it?

Yes stop asking questions, get that mobil 1 filter out of your car. Buy a MANN filter (OEM), then see if it ever comes back. Our cars are supposed to handle cold days. By the way 30F is NOT cold for your car, just for you :)

Did you buy a 3rd party extended warranty or what warranty are you talking about? Good news though!

Nope the warranty that came with it covers engine, transmission. I'm not questioning them though I'm happy. I'd say the result of this was running Mobil 1 high mileage synthetic and using a Mobil 1 filter. Two big no no's that I found out about too late. But that may not be the cause but I'm guessing it certainly helped. Had way to many problems with this Audi and I can't wait to sell/trade it with a new motor

Mobil 1 oil and filter didn't cause your oil pump to fail.

And to everyone freaking out about the mobil 1 filters "collapsing" my OEM filter did the same. There are bypass valves for a reason.

How do you still have a warranty on an '06?? I thought even with CPO it would be up by now. I'm not doubting you, just curious.

Bought it used from a non Audi dealership. Originally bought it because of the warranty they offered, 7,500 mile warranty and it covered engine transmission drivetrain etc. I was 353 miles short of the limit when this happened so they said it's covered. Not getting a new motor, getting a used one with low miles, but idc because I'm just trading it in! Btw I will have a stasis exhaust ready to ship within the next week or so
