Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I jsut installed my 034 snub mount and cant seem to get the sucker on,. I searched for little tips to do this but cant find any. I realigned the plate it mounts too but the mount wont slide all the way on, is it safe to trim the isnide of the mount? I tried dish soap and i though i got it all on but then popped out under a test drive, Ill be cracking at it again tomorrow.

After the addition of copious amounts of WD-40 (or equivalent) to both the mount mount and the inside of the rubber bushing.

I've heard it's a real whore from several people, even on the repeat.

never tried it, but: I'd try prybar from a buddy at an angle and a very blunt punch (rag covered probably) with a hammer. then I guess prybar/blunt hooktool from a buddy to pull it over the nubbin on the motor, probably while using your hand as well.

If it helps, Im leaving the entire rad support on the car. I think Im going to try to trim a touch more off the inside and then boil it and the pry bar trick. Thanks for the tips guys.

I bought the ECS snub mount. Fits like a glove. But yea. Try trimming it. Not too much though. You can always trim more, but you can't put it back lol.

Getting the poly bushing on the motor mount was kind of a PITA, but the cage goes right over it, no trimming required. Leave the four bolts holding the cage to the lock carrier loose until the lock carrier is bolted tight, then tighten the snub cage.

Mercedes silicone paste helps get the bushing on the engine mount. Try bar soap. Don't use hydrocarbons.

If you used soap and air was trapped behind the snub then it'll pop itself back off. I would take the snub and mount off the car and use a press/vice to get it on. I would also let the soap dry up.

Boil some water and soak snub for 5-7 mins then run out and slap it on... I had to boil mine twice, FYI.
If it's not sliding into the cage itself, then u will have to trim as stated on their website.

Its on! I removed the intake inlet to add some extra maneuverability to the rad support. I boiled once, trimmed a touch more on the inner ring, and then doused both the mount and the bushing in wd. It literally popped on with a pop noise. Car feels sooo much more crisp between shifts. now i need to see how much clutch abuse i can give her! Thanks for the help again. Oh copious amounts of physical force were needed too.

May have just been bad luck. I installed the 034 Snub and Cage a year or more ago with just a little heat and a little might. No trimming was needed in my case. It fit extremely snug, and I have zero concerns that it would pop loose or wiggle free as a result.

no issues with mine except with the cage mounting plate. whomever it was that removed it and reinstalled it last, cross threaded and destroyed one of the bolts so I need a new mounting plate. Used a press to put the bushing on the actual mount.

Rubber Mallet and WD-40, took me less than 5 minutes that way.
