2.7T Stage 1 spark plug gap???

Recently purchased my Allroad which had recently changed plugs....BKR7E's. I've been getting an ignition coil code for cyl #2 plus feeling misfires while cruising. The other day under hard 2nd gear acceleration my car started flashing the engine light at me...went away in 10 seconds. I checked vitals and all good...anyway.

It's been 10k miles since purchase so I decided to put another set of plugs in. Read up alot and purchased BKR7E's and gapped them to .031".

The plugs I pulled have gaps of .040"

HUGE compared to the normally recommended .024 - .032

Main question: Did I do right in gapping @.031?

Secondary: Where the heck do I find test procedure for the 2.0 coils so see if #2 is going bad?

Thirdly: Why would the motor temporarily flash the engine light? All vitals are fine.

"Normally recommended" means for factory ignition coils. Based on your signature, you no longer have that. New plugs should be gaped according to the coils you have now, not the coils that you no longer have. OEM plugs installed at the factory on 2.0t are gapped at about .038. Running slightly smaller gap may make sense when engine is chipped, does not matter if the engine in 2.0t or 2.7t. CEL flashing = multiple cylinder misfire. Not sure how you checked your engine "vitals", but any engine scan should show it.

Yeah, I knew the tune and 2.0 coils would have me outside os 2.7t factory recommended. My "normally recommended" is what I got from reading many threads and trying to piece together the info. So 2.0t is .038 oem...I might widen mine to .035 and see how it runs....I mean it's been running on .040. I know, generally speaking, a wider gap gets you better efficiency, granted it's not too wide for the ignition system.

Engine vitals = oil temp, oil level, coolant temp. I'm just using torque app with a bluetooth obd2 adapter. It's not showing any of the misfires, I really need to get VCDS...

Are you running stock coils? Also any power upgrades?

My general understanding of spark gap is stronger ignition allows for wider gap, more compression / boost requires smaller gap.

FYI no more misfires after changing the plugs. Nor has the coil code come back!
