Next generation B9 engines identified!

Using simple knowledge, I introduce your new North American engines:

A5 -slightly higher tuned 2.0t
S5 - slightly higher tuned 3.0t
RS5 - most likely a twin turbo version of 3.0.

Audi will want to save on R&D costs so A5 and S5 will carry on with the engines. Unfortunately, this will mean that the B9 platform will again not be able to fit the 4.0 v8. Only option for the RS5 will be something similar to the new M4; a very high tunned 6 cylinder forced induction engine. Discuss.

If you had thought of reading car and driver the article in the 2nd gen a/s/rs5 has it's own devoted few pages. Increased power 2.0t 3.0t. But the rs is supposed to receive the 4.0t which is just phenomenal in my opinion.

Actually the RS4 and RS5 have been said to receive a highly tuned 3.0T V6 Superchraged from our S4/5's with power in the 425-450HP range. This report was by Car and Driver.

Overall, lighter weight chassis using newer lightweight tech even using the same engines = faster car (B8's are the only ones without the updated Audi ultra lightweight technology). Stage 1 or Stage 2 as stock using the same engines = faster car. That should hold them off for another generation if they wanted to keep it simple.

If the new RS5 doesn't come out with at least the current 4.0 V8 twin turbo, as in the S7/S8, then I don't want it. They will be killing their customer base off very quickly.

My view is that little to no R&D will be needed for the 4.0 V8 twin turbo, as it's an already in production engine. Maybe a little tuning to get it to RS7 performance, but there you go, my 2c.

Glad I got in on the 2014 RS 5 then for the last 4.2 V8 model.... the only reason I switched (from an A6)

I really doubt any future cars are going to be worse than current ones. The characteristics will differ, I'm sure, but HP/TQ/0-60/etc. will only improve, not get worse.

Also, this is a dumb thread. I still believe the S4 may come with the turbo 3L since economy will be better.

The RS 5 is not going to come with the V8. BMW put 3.0 turbo in the M3/M4, so Audi will match it. If they put the 4.0T in, even de-tuned at 450hp- it would be killer. But Audi is generally conservative and I really don't see there being any chance of it happening.

Exactly Audi isn't Honda. SMH. Why so much speculation of a new RS5. Dealers have already confirmed 2014 is the last year of a stateside RS5. I think they will take a year off then bring out the R5 as a 2016 model, then come out with a RS something in 17/18.

So, would you wait for the b9 or pick up a used 2012 s4? Im in this situation because i hate the steering on my a4, so I'm either getting a used s4 or I'm just gona wait it out until the b9...any suggestions? :/
