Installing JOM rear tail light help (UPDATE: LED section doesn't work) :(

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've seen and been told these are plug and play and yet I still cant figure it out. This is my first install of anything so I'm noob.
I've looked all over but no install vid/tutorials.

On my outer and inner rear tail light I have 1 plug.
On the outer JOM tail light there are 2 plugs connected to the red coil things.

What are these red taped things? Added safety attached that I unplug?
These 2 plugs fit in my 1 OEM plug?

Dont know about plugging, but the red tape look's like a double side tape, so you can hold those things to something.

the red things are 3m double sided tape if you want to mount the square "resistors" under the trunk lid.

for mine i just stuck them in the little empty spaces under the lid. held in place without the 3m

I still don't know how these plug into my 1 clip. Where on earth do I plug my clip from my car?

the inner tails are pretty much self explanatory. the outers should look like this. the plugs labeled either "L" or "R" have 2 ends, 1 end clips directly into the plug coming out of the car, the other end plugs back into the tail light housing (that gray plastic piece where the bulbs are attached). obviously that gray bulb housing isn't pictured since it's still on the car now, and these LED tails are sitting inside

All of my wires are wired and soldered back into the tail light, I dont have any plugs unless I'm missing something.

hmm, i figured JOM would be similar to the brand I have, but it seems like you were provided 2 resistors/regulators for each outer tail light? so in total you have 4 pieces of the tail lights, 2 inner, 2 outer, with 2 resistors/regulators for each outer light, and 1 resistor/regulator for each inner light for a total of 6 resistors/regulators?

either way, you re-use your stock bulbs housing. it's easily popped off of each outer light

Also let us know how hot them resistors get. Even though ya put them in the empty spaces in the lid still want to know how hot.

Of course my luck, a section on the left outers don't work. Right side is fine. Looking closer I noticed a dent in the connector.
There is also fray on a wire, but that goes to the connector that actually works. Both these were there out of box.

    Pretty bummed right now

I would contact ECStuning ASAP about this, if that is where you got this set from. I am sure they will help ya out with this and more than likely send ya a new one. Looks sexy but still prefer the clear red (non tinted) ones. Cant wait to see this fully installed on your car and working since I have an IBIS sedan myself. Again when its all set please do make a note of how hot those resistors get.

They are sending me new ones once they receive these back. Bad part is, it's not till the end of this month when they get another set. I'll try and remember to make a note about the resistors.

I was torn between the clear turn lights and tinted ones but the clear red aren't available till march so was an easy choice.

Did you get the new ligth already? I mounted mines last week and notice that the outer light, has 2 independent LEDS, these LEDs remain turned on when lock/unlock the car (ONE side only) and both turn on when the driving lights are working, what about yours?

ECS kept having to delay my replacements since having to wait to receive them so I just went with eBay ones since I was told their the same. I'm not sure I exactly understand the problem with yours but it doesn't sound right. When I unlock/lock, only the amber blinkers flash and that is it, so I'm a little confused with yours...but my new ones work perfect, love the look.
