Now on to the mechanical things. The Stasis Ohlins suspension is the epitome of street car suspensions. It does everything well. The rest of the suspension is limited but I'll resolve that here as time and funds permit. My Beatah had every adjustable option available for these cars. Front and rear sway bar end links, upper control arms H-Sport sway bars front and rear, etc. This car only has a larger rear sway bar and that just adds to the oversteer of the car. What this car does have for handling is a Stasis rebuilt rear diff with limited slip, a Stasis rebuilt transmission with close ratio gears and limited slip with the 4:1 center diff. The car just turns and accelerates in an unworldly sort of way. The bill from Stasis on the build when you throw in the Alcon front brakes was just about 20k.
Now lets talk about that motor. Tial 770R kit, 034 iic EMS for MAFless running, Ported 2.8 heads with custom cams, solid lifters and forged rods with coated and lined pistons. Ported RS4 intake mani with custom plenum, 034 DBC conversion with larger TB. Custom downpipes. Dynoed at 550 at the wheels with the old /bad turbos. New turbos spool much quicker and power by butt shows about 600+ hp. I will be taking her in for a baseline on those new turbos in a few weeks after I've installed the dual NOS spray bars on the Apikol SMICs. I think these are the biggest available for the B5 2.7. I have really been happy with the results we gained on Da Monstah using a similar NOS spray system that keeps intake temps slightly below ambient all the way through WOT runs.
The driving experience is compelling to say the least. The car came to me with Blizzak snows mounted on OZ SLs. The buyer of Da Beatah really wanted the SLs so I traded him the SLs for the polished and anthracite BBS RKs that were on the A4. I do have a set of 18x8.5 SSR Comps on the way and I'll be sending those off for polishing and refinishing. Right now I put on my 17x8.5 SSR Comps with Goodyear F1s in 235/40-17 mounted. Oh my does this car turn in. Just a slight bit of throttle does cause that rear end to rotate right around. The 6 pot Alcons are amazing with just the 332 rotors. I can't wait to see how they do with the 355s once we get those 18" SSRs mounted. As for acceleration runs, this car is too fast for the street. Da Monstah is a fast car this is a uber quick car. It runs out of real-estate too quickly for normal drivers. The acceleration is in a word violent. There is a smidge of lag if you're caught in a too high gear but wait just a sec or downshift and you're gone. I'll set up my GoPro after we get back from our next trip to demonstrate this violence. I took our Youth Pastor for a little ride today and I think he just about peed his pants on me. I did check the passenger seat after he got out. I can't imagine owning two better cars than my urRS4 and this RS 770R.
More will follow as I get used to driving this thing and learning her quirks and stuff.
