    You might be able to find another vr4 for under $3G, and then put a K&N on it.

    It's a Mitsubishi product from the early 90's...they come with a saying though.

    "Fast for one pass, then break down and give up the crown."

    For three grand buy go-faster mods i.e. a chip, test pipe, etc. and a good clutch. Honestly your best best will be to get him off the line then hope to hold him off from there
