Weird issue yesterday, and it has happened at least once before. We were driving on a freeway doing about 65. I noticed a big hawk (red tail I think) take off from the other side of the median. It was heading low and slow with something brown and furry in its talons, directly across the road, and on a collision course with us. Having already replaced one windshield, and not wanting to take out the hawk, I braked really hard (there was nobody behind me). We missed him by probably less than 10 feet (it landed safely on the berm on our side of the road).
We were relieved to have saved its life, and that we avoided damage to our car. But then we noticed that the radio (B&O which had been playing a Sirius channel) volume had dropped drastically (to almost inaudible). Attempting to adjust the volume at the console knob or on the steering wheel control would not raise the volume. We turned the radio off, and then back on, and were able to get the volume back up successfully. I would have chalked it up as an anomaly, but it happened once before, a couple of years ago, and following hard braking at 60+ MPH speed (if I recall correctly, it was when the wife activated the ALB when stomping on the brakes to successfully avoid a cat crossing a country road.
If it happened every time we braked hard, or more than twice in over 3 years, I'd be more concerned. But I just wondered if anyone else here has experienced the same thing.
