    Wheel/Suspension Fitment Help Needed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, i can't seem to find a definitive answer.

In a nutshell, i want new wheels and suspension. A little more aggressive than stock sport, but nothing crazy as my car is a family high mileage DD.

Right now it's is sitting on stock sport suspension, on 18's.
My plans are to lower it on KW V1's but only about an inch, and move up to 19's.

So with that in mind, I'm looking at some 19" AG wheels with a 9.5" width.
I'd like a more flush fitment than oem.
With the mild lowering, will I need to worry about rub?
I also don't want a lot of stretch, for sure no more than what you would get from a 255 tire.

Anyone have solid suggestions on what will work with 9.5" wheels and a mild drop?

My other option is 8.5" with spacers if the 9.5" are too wide.

    TIA!

9.5's are fine a mild drop wouldnt cause rubbing if youre around the 35-40 offset range...tires you could pull off a 255/35

really all depends once you get your suspension installed

you wont be that low so you won't have to worry about rub, an inch lower from stock is close to the s-line/S4 height (which is 0.8" lower than stock), so that will be a nice height and look good without having to worry about rubbing, scraping, bottoming out on every incline, etc.

9.5 would definitely look good, and you'll get the flush fitment without spacers. 255 tires should be perfect, i have 255 tires on my 8.5 wheels and they are just a little wider than squared up, so 255 on 9.5 wheels should be a nice fitment, definitely not stretched but should give you good clearance so you don't rub too. 255/35/19 tires should be good.

if you do go with 8.5 wheels, then 255/35 should be ok but 245/35 might be better depending on how big spacers you get, 5-10mm on front and 10-15mm spacers on the rear would give you a good offset-a near flush fit.

With height adjustability you can make sure you won't rub. If you rub, raise the car.

This is true, but it would be nice to know if I can be in the general neighborhood of what I'm looking for drop-wise and not have to worry about it.
Sounds like I should be ok.

an inch will be fine. S-line/S4 is 0.8" lower than stock, and i've never heard of rubbing/scraping on any OEM setup (unless you're in some weird steep ass driveway lol).

my car is 1.3" lower than stock, and i only barely rub if i have spacers only, otherwise no, and i scrape very lightly on certain steeper than average driveways and big speed bumps, but you get used to it and learn to avoid them, drive diagonally over them to maximize the clearance, etc. if i was a tad higher which i'd say is the 1" you're looking for, i dont think i'd rub at all on what i do now. so yeah you'll be fine, and like they said with coils you can always adjust, you could even raise it like up to 0.8" in the winter or w/e if you like, go back down to 1-1.2" in the summer, etc.

I have air ride on my A4 avant and drive daily with no fender gap. My wheels are 20x10 et 38 front and 20x10.5 et38 rear. Tires are 265 30 20 Pirelli P Zero with no rubbing.
9.5 with 255 35 19 tires will not rub with offset between 35 and 40.

I'm in houston… no worries about winter.

I've been low enough to scrape before… our high driveways around here can be a pain.
But I've never had a different offset or wheel width from OEM and was more worried about fender rub.

im in NYC so i've got the winter, but yea we've got plenty of bad roads and potholes and crap here too. but yeah fender rub wise you will be good.

@aottley: question for you and for any others that are running larger widths and aggressive offsets, do you guys remove your fender liner? i had 8.5 et43 with 15mm spacer (so et28), and my 255 tires would just slightly rub on the rear, but i was not near poking or anything and just barely flush, but wondering how do you guys get away with the even more aggressive setups, i still had plenty of clearance until the actual fender, but the fender liner had more padding and would rub, do you guys just roll the liner out of the way or something?
