Went Stage 2 APR, plus AWE exhaust, this weekend

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi All,

I went Stage 2 (APR) this weekend. Had the tune and pulley done over at Drive Autoworks in Clifton, NJ. Dion and his crew are good guys. They also installed an AWE Exhaust for me, which I ordered thru ModBargins. Alan ([email protected]) over at ModBargins helped me with my order and did a great job.

Loving the AWE exhaust. I went with 102mm Diamond Black tips and kept my stock DPs. Love the sound. If I get bored in the future, I'll add those non-resonated DPs, MAYBE. Would love to hear one in person if anything is from the North NJ area? Please hit me up!

Enjoying the APR Stage 2 of course. Can't comment on Stage I vs. II as I went from Stock to Stage 2.

Next would be some sort of intake upgrade and springs.

Speaking of springs -- What's the deal with the '14 S5? I have the adaptive suspension (comfort vs auto vs. dynamic, whatever). I understand coilovers would throw this off. So, springs are my only option if I want to keep the adaptive suspension? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Any advice is appreciated!

Crappy pic and video to come shortly. Better pics and video to come in the near future.

Looks like you have a great build so far! In regards to the ADS question, springs will let you retain your ADS with no faults. You can go with coils as some have because the ADS system did not suit their driving style. H&R is a popular choice for coils if you want more low!

Thanks! going to start a Build Thread soon, and go forward with everything from there.

I'm not one to go super low, I'd like to lower it a bit, but I'm not one for the slammed look. NJ roads suck. I want a tastefully low stance, removing the gap, but nothing slammed that will cause headache in the future.

Well the benefit of having coils is if you want to go lower you can or if you want to raise it up to compensate for the NJ roads you can. I went with H&R sport springs to retain my ADS and I am satisfied with the drop.

True, regarding the coils, but I want to keep the ADS. What's the drop with the H&R sports? How long have you had them and have you had any issues with them in the time that you've had them? Thanks!

I have had them for almost 6mo now and I have had no issues. It was a 1.3in front/1.25in rear drop which gets rid of the fender gap.

haha, its quite fast! coming from a tuned 335 which was pretty quick and my dad's got a 997 turbo, tuned, so while its fast it's not all that new haha. but yes, very happy with the outcome. hoping to see some great results in the hopeful stage 3 from apr!

The AWE sounds pretty refined. It seems to be the best sounding system for the 3.0T to my ears.

If you have a chance, a longer clip would be appreciated by many. It would be great to hear start up, idle, some revs, and both moderate and hard acceleration from a stop to hear what the system sounds like from behind your car. A few have posted high speed drive bys, the benefit of which is lost on me :-)

WELL... it sounds like "fast" being relative and all, you've been surrounded by some movers already. I guess it's more of a "that's about right" verses "oh my god" after those other two.

I couldn't not flash it. 1, its such a tease. 2, my 335 was tuned and way faster than the s4 stock, and 3, I don't plan on beating on the car every time I drive it.

I remember with my B7 A4, diverter valves, cam followers, etc., needed to be changed and there were sometimes issues. With the 335, the concern was the turbos among other small things. What are the main concerns in your mind with tuning the B8 S4/S5 platform?

This thread is killing me. I'm taking my S5 Cab tomorrow to install the awe exhaust and APR stage 1ECU tune but now you got me thinking that I should skip the stage 1 and go Stage 2.. Also installing the S-flo filter and Eurocode sways... :)

haha, i love it. I'd deff go stage 2, big difference from what i hear between 1 and 2. I need me a filter and set of sways, and springs next.

Can anyone chime in to what are the biggest concerns with the b8 supercharged platform when it comes to flashing? much appreciated.

I talked to my shop today.. Price difference between 1&2 is minimal relatively speaking, but the timing might not work based on all that I'm having done tomorrow.. We'll see. I'll be going back anyway for the H&R street coils.. :)

Do you have the additional adaptive suspension option? Or just the sport diff? If it's just the sport diff/Drive Select, you don't have to worry about any codes.

If you are interested in H&R springs, I'm going to be taking a set off my cab in a few weeks. They have less than 200 miles on them. They are the sports, not the OEs.

just learned i have ADS (audi drive select, as every 14 does) but not the other ADS i was confusing it for (adaptive drive suspension, ~$1,000 option). So, I should be going to coil route. Not sure whether to go H&Rs vs KW V1s or V2s

H&R is a popular choice because of price and the ride is comfortable. There is discussion on the suspension thread about the diffences between them I believe.
