    Metallic rattling while driving

    When I am driving around at about 20-30mph I can hear a metalic rattling coming from around the front end, any ideas on what this could be, it driving me crazy!

    Does it only make the rattling sound when you are off throttle and coasting or all the time.

    Is it the typical valtrain noise that all Audi's have? Sounds like chains and valves clanking.

    Is it only while decelerating? Could be a loose waste gate if so.

    Its during both accel and decel, I can also hear it while coasting. Car is a 3.0tdi if that makes any difference?

    I haven't managed to have a good look under the car, but im going to try and book it in tomorrow for a wheel alignment as the steering is quute off (due to the woman owner beforehand taking a curb hard!) So while its up, ill ask them to check the heat shields

    before you assume any actual mechanical issues, be sure to check all of the body parts on the front of the car as well as underneath. could be something loose ( license plate, grille, rings, lights, bumper, skid plate etc )

    I'll be asking them to check for anything loose when its in. But one think I had read was about the cats failing which cause a rattling inside, but I think That was with a older model so not sure whether this is much of a fault with the b8's

    Had it checked today and all of the shields etc arent loose, so ive drawn a blank!

    Checked the amp and all seems tight. I can only hear the rattling when I have ny windows down

    Dear me haha, its a quattro, so could I still jack up the drivers side and rotate to listen to it like a 2wd?
