The topic of swapping clusters/gauge faces/needles is one that often appears in this forum. The most common option is swapping an S4 cluster. It gives you a color display, white needles, and just an all around more "OEM+" look. However, many purists are against the idea of having an S4 symbol in a "non-S4" car. The same can be said about the RS4 cluster. However, in this case the RS4 was a B7 model year only making a cluster swap impossible. So your only option was to purchase a $500 used cluster and use it for parts. Well that didn't vibe with me. I loved the look of the RS4 cluster but didn't want to a. spend the money or b. have an RS4 badge in my 3.0 B6 avant. Therefore I found someone who would work with me in making an RS4 style gauge face for our cars. Without further ado I present the end result.







The quality is OEM (my iPhone an photography skills don't do it justice). The version shown above is the B7 A4 / B6 S4 (for those swapping into a4 like me) version as they have the same speedo scale (0-170). I also had a B6 A4 version made with a scale of 0-160 shown below.



This project was more of just something I did for fun. However, if enough people are interested I can put together a group buy or something that will bring the price point down. Right now they're pretty expensive. Shoot me a PM if your interested and Ill go from there. ENJOY GUYS. Let me know what you think!

The cluster in the pictures is my swap cluster that is a work in progress. I will be installing the other gauge face into my current cluster hopefully this week so I can take pictures of it illuminated.

The purpose of this custom cluster graphic, is to use with an S4 cluster, to eliminate the S4 badge on the stock graphic when the S4 cluster is used in an A4.

Simply the gauge faces. This is an S4 cluster hence the white needles and color display. I have an A4 cluster as well that I will be doing the swap in. Ill post pictures when thats done.

Correct, but also to have the RS4 look without the RS4 logo. It is not specific to just the S4 cluster I have a version I will be putting in my regular B6 A4.

Here you go. This is the one I had made for my A4 cluster (still working on getting some stuff for the s4 swap). As you can see it looks oem. Colors are crisp and bright like oem. All indicator lights are bright crisp and functional. Im going to try and take better pictures tomorrow (my iPhone camera sucks).

Maybe it's just me, but are your cluster trim rings brushed aluminum or something? Maybe painted? They look pretty matte/satin compared to my stock B6 cluster rings. What made you go with an A4 red-needle cluster over an S4 white-needle cluster? Easier on the eyes?

I'm guessing its a long-shot, but is there any chance we can get it with the RS4 logo? I would be in for one without and one with (in case I ever decide to put a motor in it down the line.)

I have two clusters. My stock A4 and the S4 one Im swapping in. I had a gauge face made for each. I simply have yet to do the swap.

Its not the numbers that look different, you gotta remember that the redline is 9k instead of 8k, so there are more numbers in that circle so its more crammed.
same for the speedo, since there are more numbers to be included, the space got smaller so its more crammed.
thats why the numbers looks bigger but its actually the same size.

I get that....but to me, the 3 and 6 don't look the same. They ARE close, but not exact....unless its just me.

actually you are correct, the font couldve been flatten down to become wider or it could be a totally different font

more than that...first, the font is close but not correct. second, the font sizes are not matching, both overall and in the fact that the width of the two digit numbers take the same space as the three digit numbers. so the 2 digit numbers and the 3 digit numbers use different font sizes entirely.

Which aspect of the markers are you referring to?

the RPM indicators, are thicker on the RS4 cluster. They seem to have a grey outline which comes from the center of the dial. Also, from 8k to 9k on the RS4 cluster the indicators in between are blocky and are of differing sizes which feel sportier.
