Spoiler opinions

I'm looking into putting a spoiler on my glacier white B8.5 and wanted some opinions. I was at a dealer last week that had the spoiler below installed on a stock A4 and I really liked it. Obviously everything looks nicer in the show room so I was wondering if anyone has this one installed on their cars. I'm not planning any mods other than 5000K HID's and very light tint. Other than that my car will be stock so I'm not sure if this spoiler would go or if I should go for a subtle ebay spoiler. Let me know what you guys think and please post pics if you have this on your car.

I think he may have been referring to the one in the link the OP posted. If so, I agree. And it is crazy expensive.

Ahh That makes sense, if so b6 I Take back my statement. And as far as spoilers go I think ours is pretty much as subtle as it gets.

I honestly think our cars look far better without spoilers...
if you must have it, I'd go with something like a2 4.0t's...

It actually comes with double sided tape attached. Although, the fitment was a little off the first time I installed the spoiler so I ended up removing and reinstalling with 3m to get it perfectly aligned.

+1 It was warm enough yesterday for me to reapply it. I took off the two strips like you did, bought one wide piece of 3m and it held way better (no lifting at the ends from the stress of shaping it to the trunk).

I have always wanted to buy one of these but never got around to doing it. After seeing that the new S3 comes with a lip on the trunk from the factory, it really turned me onto the idea of doing it on my b8. I didn't like how big the ones everyone on here has been getting, so I bit the bullet and went for one of the smaller lips for $37 on Ebay..GET IT HERE: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/271310196332?...84.m1497.l2649


It took 4 days to get here from Taiwan which was insane. I was hesitant about buying the cheaper one since no one has seemed to go that route, but after opening it, the quality looks great, and the paint is a dead on match (which is hard to do for white). I tried to test fit it right when I got it and it looked like there was no way in hell this thing was going to fit the curvature of the trunk, and it didn't. After being disappointed and putting it away inside, I looked at it again today and realized that when it was delivered, since it is so cold here it was basically frozen. It has since become extremely flexable and another test fit on the car today worked flawlessly. I just put it on and I think it looks pretty good.

I would actually suggest using the tape it came with to help you test fit it on your trunk. Use it to hold the spoiler down while you ensure each side is evenly spaced from the end of the trunk, and sitting to your liking. Then mark the areas with some tape, peel off the old tape you used to align it with, and put some stronger more durable 3m tape on it.

The S-Lines don't have spoilers, the S4s don't have spoilers. If you want your car to look better get some nicer wheels, more aggressive stance, dual/quad exhaust, etc. Throwing a spoiler on an otherwise relatively stock A4 just looks like a cheap accessory.

Of course everyone will always have their own opinions and ideas when it comes to modding their own car, I actually think the lip spoiler looks nice on a black b8 a4 due to not really being able to see the spoiler lines!

at the end of the day it's 100% subjective, if you like it go for it, if not forget about it. I personally decided to go with one because I have done all the mods you mentioned; quad exhaust, wheels, coils and I felt that it was small & complimented those parts nicely. Besides, at $37 dollars it's not really a big investment or a substitute for any of the mods mentioned above.

Actually my loaner s-line a4 had a spoiler on it the other day. Didn't look too bad. I'd personally go with a more subtle one like a2's.

You're right that no b8 models come with a spoiler, but that doesn't mean that the car automatically won't look good. like a2 4.0t said, it is all subjective, but what originally turned me onto the idea of getting a small lip spoiler was after I saw the new s3. It comes with a small spoiler similar to the one a4 4.0t and myself have, and I figured for $37 all in, it was a cheap option to try. If I don't like it, its not like I have a lot invested in it that I would feel bad if one day I decide to take it off. Plus, since I have done all the big mods like you mentioned; wheels, stance, exhaust, whats wrong with trying something out of the audizine norm.

To everyone quoting my post...read the title of this thread. It's just my opinion.

That red A4 pictured...spoiler looks bad, completely ruins the rear trunk line.

The blue S3, the spoiler is so minor it might as well not be there.
