Question installing coilovers - prices DC area

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

    I am installing coilovers soon.

The cheapest shop quoted me 370$ without alignment. Is that normal in the DC area?

    Any reccomendations?

    Advice?

Yes that is normal for DC Metro. In fact it is the same price I paid at Induktion which I assume is the same place that quoted you.

don't know about normal, but most shops in the dc area quoted me 500-850, Induktion was the cheapest I believe at upper 300's

I'd say anything ~ $350 is excellent for a shop install in this area.

Normal would be higher. In the past I've been quoted anywhere from $500-$800.

Sometimes its price gouging, but one thing to keep in mind is that given that coilovers are adjustable, its not just a simple swap. The shop has to spend time adjusting it so the car sits at the customer desired height and there is no guide to as to where to set the coilover during install so it sits at a certain height. Plus, the customer isn't always happy with the result, even if the shop nailed it, and may ask for it to be a little higher or lower. All that is additional time the shop must potentially plan for, which is why a shop experienced with a given car will be able to offer much more resonable prices.

That's an amazing price for the area! I've paid more for just springs.

What does that mean? If its $300 the work isn't any good?

I don't know whats worse, the fact that you thing its skeptical or the fact that you paid 700-800 3 times to have coilovers installed.

Yeah I should have left the normal part out, but to me its what I would expect to pay to have them installed without an alignment.
