It depends if you are looking into a fully integrated solution with telephone connectivity (ie: OEM Bluetooth module or Kufatec or the new OEM one with the Touch Screen Display that you attach on the dash)

But I found all of these a waste of money when, for less than $100, you can get a nice Motorola T505.

This little device is amazing. Works through a Free FM channel, sound is crisp and clear - Bass is amazing with the Bose - Plus you get the phone features and caller ID - Upon an incoming call: Sounds mute and the voice (female) will tell you "CALL FROM 1-800-202-2020" and you press a button above your head to answer it.

Battery on it lasts a LOOONG Time - on short commutes (15 min, twice a day) - It lasts about a month. Charges in the cigarette lighter.

Works with Siri or any built-in voice recognition from your phone with the press of a button.

Or you can get the OEM BT module or aftermarket + wiring hassle of the microphone into your ceiling for between $450-$1500.

Regarding the Fm transmitter on the Motorola t505,, Do you have to set a different fm station every time you would want to use it? or just one same station everyday?

The Dension system offers all of that as well as integration with MFSW, info presented on the cluster D1S, etc. for about $250. Search for enfig Christian lays it all out there.

That Motorola device sounds pretty good for the money but appears to be a bit limited. Can you use the radio controls or MFSW controls with it and is the phone and music info displayed on either the radio or instrument cluster?

If you have an oem ipod connection, pick up the Tune2Air adapter.

I had an RNS-E 2010+ with a Kufatec Fiscon Audi Basic Plus. A2DP bluetooth streaming works but the sound quality is shit. The new MMI+ can do bluetooth streaming much better.

The plus was that anybody in the car can stream music regardless of where they sit. The minus is that anybody in the car can stream music, and the quality is shit.

With that setup the sound quality is guaranteed to be shit - it uses the bandwidth limited (300Hz -3kHz) MONO connection between the BT module and the RNS-E for the A2DP connection.

a4000 means the OEM (wired) iPod connection and not the OEM (Bluetooth) phone connection.

For the Motorola T505, it selects a station when you set it up based on your location and interference with other stations. It will remain the same until you want to get it changed manually. Or if you change cities, you will most likely have to change it again. It is one button at the rear of the device and the voice tells you the station number to tune in.

On your recommendation, I bought one of these from Amazon and just hooked it up to my OEM i-Pod adapter and synced it with my iPhone 5 and in 5 minutes I was streaming music from my phone to my car. All for $90! I thought it wasn't possible with that little amount of effort. No more having to take the iPod out to resync everytime I want to listen to something new. Thanks again!

Sorry if this sounds idiotic - do you use the CD input on the RNS-E to listen to your iPhone 5? I have the same setup with the OEM iPod adapter and have been curious about this since I got the car last month.

Here's what I did. I used the OEM aux input on the back of the RNS-e. This set up is hard-wired under the console and requires NO driver input to turn on/off. I enter the car and my phone automatically pairs, and I am good to go. The only downfall is that there are track controls via RNS-e or steering wheel when using the AUX function.

I would say the easiest would be to buy the OEM ipod dock (glovebox mounted) and buy the Tune2Air unit. If you want to buy the OEM dock, its the exact same wiring as the RNS-e CD changer (plug and play) and there are a few available on the classifieds. My brother has the tune2air in his Q7, it is nice. This option should allow you to switch tracks via the steering wheel/Rns-e. On the first Gen RNS-e you will not have any track information on the screen though.

Hope I'm answering your question. you select the CD input (which defaults to CD #7) just as you would when using the OEM iPod adapter. Because the menu items/song titles, etc. never work with the RNS-E and the iPod anyway, you just select from your iPhone 5 what you want to hear and it streams via Bluetooth through your speakers. You can also go forward and back through the songs via the controls on the steering wheel.

Yes - pretty much the answer I was hoping for. Did you have trouble inserting the adapter into the iPod holder in the glove box? I actually bought a much cheaper bluetooth adapter and it didn't work quite right, hence my curiosity. Thanks for answering.

It wasn't easy, but I don't have giant bear claws for hands so it worked out ok. I inserted it facing in the right direction (as the instructions implored) and took my time. worked out great.
