Auto to manual swap problems, 00 ATW flywheel options? single mass?

I am unfortunately at a stopping point swapping an auto motor into my manual car. over the winter I had oil pump failure, so I purchased a 00 ATW from an automatic car, im aware of the grinding down of the crank and that's not what worries me, right now its the flywheel im having problems with. I purchased the bearing from zorkos but I had the flywheel that tapered in and will not allow the bearing, ive been searching for an AEB flywheel without luck, ive ran across a single mass flywheel with the correct opening for the bearing, but im not sure the single mass flywheels work with the swap? I feel like the opening isn't thick enough to support the bearing, as well as the end of the crank like a dual mass would. could anybody confirm this? also, if the single mass flywheel will work out, can I use a SM flywheel and stock clutch and pressure plate? or should I just keep looking for an AEB stock flywheel

I just got done adapting a auto engine for a manual car and followed the way walky did it. It does not require any grinding of the crank or require the large bearing or single mass flywheel like biketsai's method.

you simply get a slide hammer, pull the sleeve out of the auto crank. Then, you get a 2.8 30v pilot bearing and saw the cap off of it. insert the pilot bearing in the crank reversed, and only about half way or so.

note- it was another member's car I did it too and it only has 500 miles on the setup, but it seems like a decent solution. walky has many miles on his without failure

he problem I have is the flywheel I started with, I tought that tapered piece in the center was a separate bearing so I tried pounding it out, destroying the flywheel. so at this point, im asking which flywheel I need to buy to indefinetly suit the zorkos bearing/crank grind. the flywheel I found has the correct opening, I just am unsure if you can use a lightweight single mass with a stock clutch/pressure plate

no, you cannot. Stock clutch is unsprung because of the dmf. you need a spurng clutch

Yeah, that is a separate bearing - for the dual mass operation. But it needs to be there and you definitely can't remove it. It's always a good idea to read up on the swap threads before getting out the "big" hammer.

The only flywheel that will work with everything you have is an AEB OEM dual mass flywheel. If you go with a solid flywheel, then you have to get a sprung clutch disc. And at that point, you might as well just buy the entire kit. No sense in have everything else new but the pressure plate. The OEM pressure plates are actually known to break once in a while anyway.

i have found an AEB flywheel and the guy sent me some photos, there is a pilot bearing in the center do I punch that one out and put the zorkos one in it? I actually thought there wasn't anything supposed to be in there

Post up a picture. I believe Ive seen some pictures of a stock flywheel that look like it tapered in.

*I already answered your PM, but I thought I'd post my reply here as well for benefit of the forum readership.

That flywheel is still bolted to the crank!

None of that center stuff comes with it. That is the crank snout with the pilot bearing pressed into the crank that you are seeing.

so I received the correct flywheel, and the bearing fits in the hole, but its not as snug as I was hoping.. is this to be expected? I did the grind, and left 2-3mm of crank snout and installed the flywheel, but when I put the bearing in, yeah its the right fitment, but I feel it wiggles just a little to much. its not really snug in there. im worried of it falling out of place after I bolt the clutch and pp up and then having a mess to deal with lining everything back up. is this common?
