I am using this DIY http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ies-(For-6spd) but he doesn't show getting the driver side O2 out. It looks a bit more complex on the driver side.

I am just wondering if anyone has some tips?

taking o2 out is giving you problems? I am fearing what you'll be thinking when you start doing actual DPs...

you need a bunch of extensions, wouldn't use the crows foot for removal. tape extensions together, tape socket on to extensions (tape so nothing falls apart), put socket on o2 sensor. go from passenger side to remove drivers side o2- add breaker bar and unscrew.

you want to make sure the tool is fully seated on the sensor- easier to strip with the crows foot. Also I sprayed some pb blaster and let it sit on the o2 sensor before removal which helped.

Disconnect 02 plug from harness. Pull dp, remove 02 from dp on bench.

This is the best post you're going to get.

The plugs for the 02 sensors are the ones on the passenger side of the firewall.

Also, to get to the bolts, you may need to cut down a 17mm open ended wrench, or pick up a shortened one from the store.

I'd like to keep my car.

The actual process of removing the downpipes is not that hard. It's only when you start running into rusty / seized bolts and trying to get the god damn heat shields out. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. Jesse is definitely right about unplugging the o2 from the harness and removing it from the dp on the bench... Much easier that way.

Yes! This is my shortcut for driver side dp. Had to swap them out recently for inspection.

    Thought about this actually, Thanks.

We'll see though, just snapped a turbo/downpipe bolt. I have them soaking in pb blaster but didnt' seem to help when I went to loosen it. It actually came off quite easy, thought it loosened it until I went to unscrew it and it fell off

Sounds right. 7 of the 8 came out with the nut rusted to the stud on my car. Even after soaking in PB Blaster, they still were fixed, so I just re installed.

Will be taking the car to my uncle's and plan on doing an engine pull to fix the broken bolt, put downpipes on, and check out the tranny for that annoying ass whine. Will be my first pull but my uncle had pulled many motors, so it shouldn't be bad.

One of my downpipes didn't even have a bolt on the top. There is no leak surprisingly.

Print out multiple copies of the how-to. Make sure to have the video available offline. Don't take any shortcuts, don't let your uncle do things he's done before with other cars ("itll be fine".. wrong).

Good luck and god speed, you poor bastard. Just kidding, it's not terrible but do it by the book the first time, get that muscle memory before going off script.

I've run one DP with 3 bolts having been advised it wouldn't leak. That was a shitty experience.

It'll be done by the book(from what I've seen online). Things will be done my way for sure.

    Thanks!

Here is your giude to a pull, you don't need pictures really (they're missing) but the check list is the path to follow:

    http://forums.audiworld.com/showthre...577529#2187139

Get a bunch of medium sized, thick zip lock bags, a good marker. As soon as you have all the bolts from a logical location (like a bumper), bag them, mark the bag, put it into some tray or something. Next bag goes in front of the previous one. This way when you reassemble, you just go in reverse and no looking for stuff/not installed bolts.

This is one method of doing it. Another method (that I prefer from experience) is to remove the bolt, slide out whatever it was holding on, and reinstall the bolt.
That way, when you are reinstalling the component, you see the bolts right there, and simply remove them and install the part again. Doesn't apply 100% of the time, but probably 80%

Eh, I gotta go with Julex's recommendation here. Bagging and labeling hardware in chunks following logical order of removal is the safest and best way to ensure everything goes back. I've done the whole stick it back into whatever you pulled off, usually with lock carrier but also top end removal, and it's way too easy to move, knock or drop something, lose your hardware and forget about it.
