I'm debating on tinting my tails. Anyone has them done? Please post op some pictures. Especially for those that have white cars.

    I like them both.
Thanks guys. I've been playing with one of my tail light to see what I would like to go with in terms of the darkness of shade.

I was messing around with mine. Here is what I got so far. This picture was taken in a dead dark area with my phone.

In for more pics. I'd like to do a really light tint, but the minute I mention anything, everyone assumes I want to black out the tails. :banghead:

I'm not really into that all blacked out or too dark taillights where no one can see when you brake:cool:

I just want to take the edge off. It sounds stupid, but it's so vibrant against the white, it clashes with almost any color accents I want to do on the wheels.

The reasons for trying this out is; I want to keep my tail lights reflector and as well as the clear for my reverse light.

He's not being literal. It's a saying. "Take the edge off" as in he feels his red tail lights are too sharp or bright and he wants to reduce the brightness a bit. ;)

I do not have a picture handy but I have mine tinted just about the same as the white car and my car is black. Looks very nice but just don't over do it and not have visible tail lights at night.

Iv'e used this on my GSXR, works great. Just have to go with light coats until you get the desired tint. I to am not into "blacked out" tails, just a little darker than bright red on a black car. I have yet to do this.... :)

BTW, your's turned out really good

Yeah for sure they hold up! Only thing i noticed is that if you leave degreaser on them for too long, it will stain them somewhat.. just take a microfibercloth and some polish and they´ll be shining:)
The spray i used is from a swedish lowprice carparts store called "Biltema". Ill post a picture, i´m sure you can find it in the US too. We have the same one in different stores and at different prices here in sweden! They look the same but obviously with another name/sticker :)

Edit: Aparently Motip makes them originally http://www.motip.com/products/motip/...ine/backlight/ It does not look exactly the same, but they are!

I really appreciate it. Thank you.
I used this for the first time and it didn't look bad at all.

I gave my right side 3 sprays and ended up like this. No clear coat added.

If I'm on the road today, I'll double check for that as well.

Great! What i´ve noticed is that if you want a shiny finish you have to apply thick layers, if you "dust it" the finish will be matte:)

What I've seen and noticed about tinted tail lights, they cover the whole lens. I don't want that at all. I want the reflector and the reverse lights to stand out. I don't know if this makes sense. As the pictures above on my post, I tried to make them stand out by not painting that part. I don't know if no one noticed them.

I would HIGHLY suggest you wrap them instead of spraying. They look terrible if the aren't sprayed right and you only get one chance.

It can be done with spray. BUT it fades, and you have to paint it thick so it won't chip. So you have to start darker than you want it to end up like.

    Fresh paint:

    Few years later:

Definitely glad it faded, since I outgrew that terrible look it started with.
