So its been almost a year since i had my a5. Coming from a previous v8 s5, my non sline lacked many things that i missed. Besides the exhaust note, i missed the front end. I jumped the gun when i bought my a5 non s line because they were very hard to find in my area so i went for whatever was available. I thought okay the s front conversion can easily be done!

Every day since i got my a5 i been trying to source the bumper without going through the dealer ( cause im poor). I checked ebay, classifieds, craigslist, no go.

2 weeks ago i stumbled upon a BRAND new, straight out the factory primered s5 bumper on ebay. Price was a bit less than dealer asking, so i decided to send them an offer. Initially they did no accept. But they did suggest that they are local to me and can give me a deal of i picked it up. So we exchanged a few emails back and fourth and a few phone calls and we worked out a deal. Basically they would do the bumper + repaint + 2 s5 fog grilles for a price. I accepted.









Luckily the shop found a used but great condition fog grille with a chrome ring and took off 30$



Okay so checked it out and everything was good. Thanks to @shonesb for checking it out and dropping off the money. So the process begins

Called the shop today and it was ready for pick up. I was so excited!!! I agreed to meet z ( the guy i was dealing with) at the shop at 5. Shop was only 13 miles away but took me over an hour to get there. I got there around 5:30.

This shop is as high end as it gets. It reminds me of @mops garage lol. They service for audi of manhattan and maserati manhattan. I could tell they normally charge an arm and a leg



Now, the bumper. All i can say is...holy shit. I am beyond impressed with the quality of their work. Ill let the pics speak for themselves





Z also included the 2nd fog ring for free



















All i can say is that i am extremely happy with the results, and lucked out badly on getting the deal i got. Z was great to work with, and raymond, the body shop owner, is a really nice guy as well. I def recommend star auto nyc for the locals to get their work done here. He threw in free fog rings that was originally not part of the deal, and kept the shop open waiting for me (they close at 430). I will def return to this shop for future work. Okay sorry for the long read. Just felt like voicing ( or writing) how happy i am to have been able to obtain this piece. Now, winter needs to leave before this gets installed. So stay tuned...

I am going to fix the fender when the time comes. Originally was gonna do it while the car was in the shop to get the bumper sprayed but i didnt leave my car there so ill do it next time im free

I really hope the paint matches too. Its sooooo shinyyy and glossyyyyyy lool. Ill need to hit my hood and fenders with like layers and layers of wax before it looks anything like this bumper

My first scrape will be a heart break

No plans to clear bra as of right now...i should really consider it though.

Next step is to source the splitter. Who has one for sale? ;D

I scrape on a daily basis on my a5 :( cant imagine how its gonna be with the freshly painted bumper....

Steve, I would go ahead and clear bra it no doubt. I can point you to a pre-cut kit for around $125, and you could DIY super easy while the cover is off the car.

Nah, more than familiar with a very low car, and I know where I can and cannot go. If this were a DD in say NYC, that would be a different story for sure!

nice work BK..... 1 small suggestion, do not get the splitter. roads in nyc are bad esp after this winter. You are on 19in wheels already super low.. its going to be waste of $$ and time. With that bumper alone its going to look SICK esp with clear bra...

Jessie, he is referring to the oem integrated splitter. Without, there will be a weird gap, and it does not add any low to the bumper cover. If you contact the underside of the splitter, I suggest you buy a truck

Oh it's all assembled and ready to go at the shop. I'm heading over tomorrow night after work (6:30pm) to get it all installed. I'll take pics along the entire process, addressing the belly pan question too. Sadly it's raining today, so my freshly washed and waxed car won't be shown tomorrow. Wah Wahh.

Nice job BK. Can't wait to see that installed on your car. I think you should consider the clear bra. That's an investment you have there, so you should at least do some minimal protection on it.

this body shop is an authorized audi repair shop. they have lots of parts laying around the warehouse. this was one of them. they threw it up on ebay and i just happened to stumble upon it. :D

gonna DIY. have knowledge on how to replace the bumper. only thing i need to worry about is the belly pan. heard mix things where you can reuse ur old ones or need a new one. new will run around 250+. would rather find a way to modify stock so i dont have to spend any more money lol.

I was able to modify the A5 one to work for now but it looks silly where the splitter is. I have both brand new S5 panels so once I get some free time I'm going to throw it up on the lift and play with it some more, I'll let you know. Front is only like $100 though, so it's not terrible.

yea true that. i had a clear bra on my phantom black s5, and there was dust/debris build up in some places and it looked horrible.

nice looking bumper I would skip the clear bar too.that area is more prone to bigger scratches.

so as it sits currently, u have reused both stock a5 belly pans? have pics of how it looks silly? lol

I'll try and get my car up on the lift one night this week and I'll have more information and pictures for you. It basically sits inside where the splitter is and you can see it through the gap, really bugs me but someone else not as OCD might be okay with it.
